Default New SOVREN "Club Formula Vee" Class for 2020

For those of you who don't know of SOVREN, it is a long established vintage racing sanctioning body here in the north west. They have a web site that one can access. The event schedule for 2020 has been established.

At the Board meeting of SOVREN earlier this month, new rules were approved allowing Formula Vee cars manufactured to 1983 to race competitively at all future SOVREN events in their own class as "Club Formula Vee" (CFV).Note that earlier pre-1975 Vintage(FV) Formula Vee cars will continue to race under Monoposto rules in their own class (FV).

Formula Vee cars formerly not eligible to race with SOVREN will now be able to subject to the new rules.

If you have an interest in Club Formula Vee and want more information please free to contact me.

That is great news! Now I have a larger pool of cars I can get to run with them. As soon as someone nearby puts a car up for sale again...

Of course, I'll bet putting disc brakes on a car of any age would disqualify it...

By way of an update (2/29/200. SOVREN will be formally adopting new rules for competition classes among other things for the 2020 racing season in just two weeks. Shortly thereafter, the updated rules will be published and available on line and the rules as adopted for Club Formula Vee will then be accessible to all. You folks out there in the north west (and west coast) will be able should also know that SVRA will be having joint races with SOVREN so there will be vintage Formula Vees and Club Formula Vees allowed to compete at their races. First race will be at Pacific Raceway on the weekend of April 24-26.

Come out and race your pre 1984 FV car!

Disk brakes on a FV? A momentum killer, for sure. Just sayin'.

Default SOVREN Rule book update- Club Formula Vee

    Hi FV Folks:

The SOVREN web site has been officially updated to include Club Formula Vee rules. To see the rules on the SOVREN Web Site go to "Rules" find Monoposto rules and click on that. Look a little further scroll down and you will see "Club Formula Vee rules" and click on that and you will find my letter to SOVREN proposing the addition of Club Formula Vee followed by the "Exceptions to "Monoposto" rules allowed for Club Formula Vee cars. Note any formula Vee built prior to January 1984 can be run as a "Club Formula Vee".

The first race of the season for SOVREN has been rescheduled to run at Pacific Raceways following the SCCA majors/regional race memorial day weekend. As of this time a variance for the race has not been granted by the State of Washington. We are hopeful that the variance will be granted so that SOVREN may resume racing we should have answer one way or another very soon..

Feel free to direct any questions on the rules for Club Formula Vee to me.
