    Default Vintage bump rubbers

Although I plan to follow Lathrops advice on bump rubbers for my CF, I'm not sure where to start with this Lola T326 FSV. The current bump rubbers are falling apart but they are way taller than the Dynamics available.
    Suggestions?

    Garey:

It is common practice to stack bump stops. Off the top of my head, and it maybe totally off, I think 2 yellow, small diameter Dynamics bump stops might work as a replacement for what you have. 2 reds will be softer or 2 blues will be harder. and there is nothing to say you can not use 3. The only issue I can see is keeping the dynamics bump stops centered on the shaft but a large diameter o-ring above and below the each bump stop should do the job. The more you stack up the softer the stack becomes.

    Thanks Steve,
Yes, I've seen you mention that before (stacking). Two on each corner would fit the bill. But to be absolutely honest, I don't know if I want to keep the FSV now that I got a VFF. So spending about $85 for one tall on for each corner sounds better than twice that. I'm not going to leave the damaged ones on the car but I wasn't planning to do such a complete go-through on it!

I added two of the Dynamic brand on each corner for my car plus some extras in different sizes... and I had major sticker shock when I got the bill...

Maybe there is another brand that would "do" for a secondary car?

    Default Bump Rubbers

Koni bump rubbers for the 3012 - bought some recently for a Riley and Scott project. Truechoivce Koni sells them in two lengths I think. Not the later Koni stuff with grooves in them and more yellow colour.

Thanks Phil, looks like they have the exact, appropriate ones I should probably use.

    Default R E Suspension

These people have quite a variety of bump rubbers, some as long as 75mm (3"):

    https://www.resuspension.com/index.p...html?mode=grid

Earlier this year I saw some force-deflection graphs on their site but can't find them just now, iirc some seemed pretty gentle in their spring rate. You could just email them for tech info.

You can always trim an over-long one to fit, but remember that shortening them will make them stiffer (just as stacking a pair will make them softer).

oops - just looked at Russ' Summit link, the first 3 items on that search look just like the RE units...

Jegs sells Penske bump rubbers and they're 2.38 tall. Nice thing is they list a spring rate and if you go to Penske's website they have the curves (up to .25" compression)

    Default Order placed

I ordered these 3 types to experiment.
    https://www.summitracing.com/compare

I've installed the Koni ones in front and will install one of the other types in the rear when I get to cleaning it up, hopefully this weekend. Getting it close and starting to think that I should look into an event coming up, maybe in Feb or March!

Chip - Penske is pretty proud of those! A pair of those cost more than the six I got! The Dynamics type that Lathrop suggested are nearly half that too. Doesn't look like Penske will get my business at that price point, especially for the more laid-back Vintage car.

Koni has a few different sizes/styles of different stiffnesses/rates => https://www.apexspeed.com/forums/new...reply&p=572822. I imagine Truechoice can get them if they aren't in stock. I noticed that Summit Racing had a couple of the sizes too.

Yes, there were choices. I bought the one shown above because it was for the shaft size closest to mine.

    Default Bump Rubbers

I'm looking at replacing my bump rubbers. Don't know where the ones I have came from or if they are correct.
How much pre-travel should there be before the bump rubber compresses?

That is the adjustment. The gap, and adjusting that gap, is where some of the handling/balance adjustment is. So it depends...

    Default For adjusting

I have a pile of these to use to adjust the gap. Can also be made fairly easily:
