Default All Formula Fords Invited! Aug. 4-5 At Colorado's HPR

    Plan Your Road Trip NOW!

Once again Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing (RMVR) is hosting an invitational Formula Ford grid at our Eighth Annual Race Against Kids' Cancer. All Formula Fords are invited, including contemporary cars. There will be a pure Formula Ford grid all weekend long including the vintage FFs, CFs, and "modern" FFs.

Over the past several years this event has drawn grids of 40+ Formula Fords. Total entries for the weekend probably 150 cars. It's a blast! And, we’re planning another ProAm Race this year. Talk about a blast – either watching the race or being selected for an “Am” seat.

    • Experience High Plains Raceway. (FYI, HPR’s new paving project was completed last Oct. and cured over the winter making for great track conditions!)
    • Race in a big FF grid, always someone to race with regardless of where you are in the pack.
    • Lots of other activities including a Saturday track-side dinner with entertainment.
    • Watch the Pro-Am Race and maybe even qualify as the "Am" drivers to share a ride with a Pro. Up to 10 new production cars are provided our wonderful dealer sponsors. Then up to 10 Pros drive them for half the race, the Am racer does the rest of the race.
    • Help us achieve our goal of raising $200,000 this year bringing our eight year total to $1,000,000 supporting Morgan Adams Foundation (who fund research into cancer in children).

Let us know of any questions. As always we can arrange for trailer storage before or after the event if you wish to do some Colorado vacationing.

More event info and registration here

    Cheers and see you there.

This is a great event. Might be the last place on earth where you can find grid girls

Are you coming back this year, Cliff? Randy Pobst is confirmed to come for the ProAm and he's always happy to jump in a FF so maybe I'll fire up the Piper for him to race with you.

Anyone else want to race Randy?

What is the typical ratio of vintage CF and FF cars that usually enter this event? I have a RF79 that I would consider entering with! Is there a spec tire for CF? Up here it's the AR133 tire. Thanks Rick

Last year it was (about) 16 CFs and 26 Vintage FFs and several contemporary cars.. CF's can run either the current SCCA American Racer slick or a vintage treaded tire (Avon/Dunlop or more likely the new Hoosier vintage FF tire which most of are now using).

    Default Tires

What, if any, is the tire (spec?) requirement for Formula Ford, for this event? I haven't seen an official answer.
    BTW, I'm in.

    Cheers!

RMVR's rules for their Vintage ('72 and older) cars are Dunlop (unobtainium, so moot), Avon FF or the new Hoosier FF tire For Club Fords they can run the SCCA American Racer slick or the any of the approved vintage tires (e.g. Hoosier FF). Most of our Club Ford cars whoa re now running with RMVR with an RMVR logbook are running the Hoosier FF tires 'cause they're cheaper and just as much fun and more equally competitive with anyone in the field which makes for more fun racing.

But this is an invitational even extended to any and all FFs. It's an event for fun and for charity. No trophies and not all that much interest in where you finish. So, any FF with tires shod according to their "home" club rules is fine.

This event isn't about rules. it's about coming and having fun.

Not hard. Assuming you have a MotorsportsReg profile, add RMVR to your "Clubs" (Go to Your Account profile, then "Clubs, the serach for Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing) and add RMVR to your list. This so you can easily "see" our events and we can see you.

While in your MSR account, add your "new" vintage FF to your garage. You'll need a current logbook for the car from someone (some other Vintage organization or SCCA). And, of course, you'll need a current racing license from someone. We honor all SCCA and any other vintage racing organization's licenses.

Just for the RAKC Invitational Formula Ford grid, we accept all Formula fords, Vintage, Club Ford or Contemporary. Just check the appropriate box as you enter the car (chose FF. CF or FF-New). As you enter, you'll be asked who issued the logbook and who issued your racing license. If licensed from someone other than RMVR you[ll need to supply the date your license expires AND the date your medical expires. If the logbook is not from RMVR, you'll be asked who issued the car logbook.

Oh yes, as you enter, since you're not currently a paid RMVR member, you'll get nicked for that, but it's only $75 and it's good for our two remaining other events in 2018 (Snowmass and our Enduro) whould you want to enter those events.

As to tech, just bring one of our tech sheets (downloadable here) properly filled out along with the car's logbook to our event tech, preferably on Friday, not Sat. am !!! They'll check for basic safety preparations.

Easy. Look forward to seeing you there.

Only 2 days left to get the Registration discount. 34 Formula Fords registered as of today, July 11. 22 Vintage, 11 Club, 1 Modern.

So come on guys/gals, let's get 50 FF's out here like we did a few years ago! It's the 50th, in Europe anyway. So come on, 16 more of you. And remember, this event is a great opportunity to help kids that REALLY need help.

BTW, the track is a blast to drive. Did we mention: Grid Girls? Pro Drivers? A Pro/AM? Colorful Colorado? Saturday evening dinner with a band? What's not to like?

Hope to see many of you Apex'ers at HPR!
