Default Pertonix Igniter III Worth It?

Am looking at the latest Pertronix module available for the 009 distributor. More info here http://shop.pertronix.com/pertronix-...l#.WbSoTciGPIU

This one supposedly produces multiple sparks.
Wondering if anyone has any user info on these, whether it's worth the extra cost. They also whether recommend their coils but will it work properly with one of the Bosch "Blue" 00012 coils?

Do a search on this. Seems there are many problems with failures. I have no experience either way.

seems to me, I remember something about FV wanting/needing the Pertronix II, not the III. definitely do some digging there.
as far as being worth it or failures, many of us have used them for years with zero issue. I've had better luck with these than points/condensors. I have no experience with their coils, but the fancy coils tend to be more for the high HP "built" engines. FV doesn't really need anything fancy or high-powered... just reliable.

Default To Pertonix or not ?

Have had no trouble with Pertonix for over 5 years using Bosch blue coil in my vintage CF. However, there appears to be a change in the latest Bosch coil appearance. The Bosch blue coil that Pegasus sells is now silver with a big blue sticker on the front replacing the older solid blue appearance. I am retaining my older solid blue coil which has worked very well for a long time. I believe that most people who have had trouble with the Pertonix used a cheap after market coil or installed the Pertonix incorrectly. Admittedly, not sure whether the Pertonix is really worth the potential trouble over the "old" points and condenser set up which was easy to change AND when beginning to fail was easily recognizable to effect a timely change.

The coil used must match the ohm requirements for a given Igniter model. Pertronix clearly states what is required.

    Default Petronix III

I run a P3 IG module in the cars I set up. Have never seen a multi strike event on the lab scope. Did have one that was extremely short on saturating the ignition coil primary causing power loss at higher rpm. The company replaced it without question. The P3 does have an adjustable rev limiter that has saved the engines many times.
