    Default Fv tires

    Hello,

I own a FV in Mexico. The car came with 13"x 5.5" wheels but the series are soon changing to 15"x4" oem wheel to make the series cheaper.

What tire size do you guys reccomend? The oem is 155/80/15...

Are the Cars going to be faster? At this point both wheel sizes can be used.

    We run Street tires...

in Challenge Cup, we are running Falken Azenis RT615K 195/60R14, so we don't have much knowledge on the 15" options. that being said, there was some work put into looking for 15" tires, and we found there were not a whole lot of options for the smaller sizes you would want for a FV. we have a set of Falken Azenis RT615K 205/50R15 and Toyo R888 195/50R15. those are pretty much the smallest performance tire you will find, and with a reasonable price.

you are not going to find any performance tire for the narrow 4x15" wheel, no cars use that size anymore, so you have to go wider. as soon as you go wider, you will have more aero drag, so the cars are slower. also, there will be more weight to them which means it comes off the corner slower too. and depending on the tire, the diameter will vary some, which changes the effective gear ratio.

if you want to stay with the 13" wheel, TireRack shows some Toyos in a 185/60R13 for $132 USD that may be an option, and those use a 5.5" wide wheel.

while it is a bit of a mess to dig thru, here is another thread with some wheel & tire info as well.
