    Default Winkleman WDF1 body required

I am the proud new owner of a very much rear end butchered WDF1 which I am going to restore. Has anyone got access to body moulds I need a full set of panels to assist with re-fabrication.

Locke at the Palliser register may come up with contact but another would be good if you can help.

I am also looking for a set of rear gearbox beam and frame plans if anyone has redrawn whilst restoring.

    Thanks

Try Marchant and Cox. I am using them for Elden mounds.

Did you get a gearbox with it?
    Motor?
    uprights?
I suspect more chance of getting a body good or bad in USA than UK

Have contact uk contact from Palliser register in USA who is having a batch of correct uprights remanufactured rather than using B21. It needs a massive amount of re-fabrication as it was used as a school car and has part of a rear bumper cage still attached.

I have a Lola T340 coming over from USA with Hewland Mk 8 for less than cost of gearbox, so if anyone wants a complete but stripped down 1974 Lola in a few months less engine and gearbox let me know! It gonna fund some of the rebuild of the WDF1.

Locke at the Palliser register had been really helpful.

Sorry, not much help with your project!

Good for. It looks very much how my Lotus 61 looked when I got it. Anything that unbolts was gone. Labour of love but now I am driving it, it was all worth it. Good luck.

    Default WDF1 body panels

Did you ask Locke to help you find panels? He should be able to post it on the Palliser website asking for help. I have body molds for the WDB-2 FB, and there are way more FF's here in the US than FB cars. There has to be at least a few people who can help you out.

I think I recall Bob Winkleman saying he pulled molds from a Brabham BT18 Fjr to make his WDF1 bodies. That was a long time ago so I could be completely wrong.

Perhaps Bob could set us straight.

Back in the '90's, a group of Colorado WDF1 owners got bodies from a Renny Watt in Oregon. No clue as to if that's a current option or not, but here a possible way to contact him:

    Default No luck yet

Renny replied he sold his WDF1 a few years ago, he did make 10 or so body sets back in the 90s and sold the moulds to someone in California, but has no contacts. Anyone know where there is a set if moulds in the world?

I bought Renny's Winkelmann '69 WDB2 FB (sister car to the one being described here, Renny restored both). I have moulds for the FB car, but not Renny's WDF1.

I know Renny sold the WDF1 car to Steve Riffle in Spokane. Maybe he can confirm if the moulds were sold on with the car?

The Winkelmann registry (pallisercars.com) shows it is currently owned by David Chase in CO. Contact Locke at the Palliser site and he can put you in touch with David. Maybe the moulds went with the car?

I know David, will give him a call and report back....

Just spoke with David. He did not get moulds with the car but did get a large file of info, which he will look through for clues. Sometimes people acquire moulds with a car but don't have the facility or knowledge to use them, so the moulds end up at a fiberglass shop. Anyway, I'm wondering if Darrell's FB moulds differ much from the WDF1 design. Since Darrell is in Oregon, could they be the same moulds as Mr. Watt had used?
