    Default RFFCS Round #2

Here is the on-board video from Saturday's trophy race.

Race started in slightly damp but drying conditions. I was very surprised to pull out a gap in the opening laps and thought I had a chance to cruise to an uncontested win. First kink in that plan was that the track dried and the fast shoes behind me started turning fast lap times. But I had more than enough lead to give away a few tenths here and there and win by a comfortable margin. Then I hit traffic. No problem since it must be holding up my pursuers too, right? Wrong. Maybe I was being too nice and patient but my lead evaporated in just a few laps of trying to work through the lapped traffic. So now it was on between me, Joe Griffin and Scott Fairchild. Joe took the lead for a lap or two before I retook first place. Then Scott drafted past to the lead and we hit more traffic. I figured we would continue our battle once we cleared traffic since we did not get a "one to go" signal but the checkers came out the next lap and that was that.

Congrats to Scott for 2 straight wins in the RFFCS.

It was a great weekend of FF racing with 31 Formula Fords at the event. Over the course of the 5 races, by my count, we had six different drivers lead laps and 4 different race winners in 5 races. Race winners were Joe Griffin on Friday, Doug Meis - Race 1 on Saturday, Joe Griffin again in rain soaked Race 2 on Saturday, Scott Fairchild in the RFFCS trophy race on Saturday and Tyler Pappas winning on Sunday.
