    Default SVRA FF Open Invitation to Sonoma

    Gentlemen,

    As you know SVRA has made some minor adjustments to make Vintage Racing more accessible for the 40+ years of Formula Fords. We are celebrating the FF’s this year and would like to extend an open invitation to all Formula Fords up to 2008 to the Sonoma Historical Motorsports Festival, June 2-5 2016, sorry, no Honda’s.

    http://www.svra.com/events/2016-sono...orts-festival/

    SVRA has 3 classes for the Formula Fords;

    FF = First generation 1967-1972,
    CF = Second Generation 1973-1981
    PCF = Post Club Ford 1982-2008

    Tires;

    We will be allowing the Dunlap’s, Avon’s, Toyo’s and the new Hoosier VFF tires (no slicks)

    Please read the SVRA Formula Ford Rule Book for further clarifications.

    Rick--

    Thanks to you and Tiny and all the SVRA crew who are doing so much to provide great racing opportunities for so many of us in the vintage racing community. I will be at the Sonoma Historics in my 1973 Crossle, which had never been allowed to participate before at this wonderful event. And thanks for the sensible tire options. It has been an unnecessary expense having to buy new kinds of tires to go racing with the patchwork of clubs around the country.

    Hey Charlie,

    How are you getting there? Jens is probably putting together a trip from Phoenix and there may be room on the trailer at reasonable cost. I'm of course even more interested in the High Plains trip, which Sean says nearly all of you are attending...

    I drove Sonoma in my street car long ago - fantastic track!
    Caldwell D9B - Sold
    Crossle' 30/32/45 Mongrel - Sold
    RF94 Monoshock - here goes nothin'

    Hey Dave- every SVRA race I've ever been to has has RT41's in it, I'd think you could probably run it at SHMF too. Unless they have different rules for this event.

    This was Steve Earle's Event SVRA agreed to follow his rules NO ground effect cars
    Earle never allowed them at Monterey. I think alot of people are tired of watching Three wheel Morgans

    I believe the quote from Earle about Formula Fords was "it will be a cold day in hell before I ever allow Formula Fords at any of my events"

    And after only two years, here we are.

    Maybe in 24 months we can revisit this topic in regards to ground effect cars at Sonoma

    Sonoma is a stand alone event (Gold Medallion) for SVRA and we will have a special run group within this event, this year we are celebrating the FF's which has never been done before. If someone would like to spear head a group for next year like the FA cars just let me know. We are open to any group that will put on a good show!

    Default sonoma SVRA event

    For what its worth... it was an awesome event... over 30 cars, very close racing. Our here between CSRG and SVRA we are getting consistently large fields.
