    Default Formula E - Runoffs 2015

Registrations starts in just over 1 week July 22nd for Daytona, Would be good if we could get some FE'S paddocked close together, I guess its a long shot but gonna head for Orange section 5 next to grid or there about.

Hope to see a big entry Steve Everard (Reece's sponsor, dad, crew chief )

Looks like a good turnout with 16 cars. It's good to see that Daytona has re-energized the FE crowd for Runoffs entries. The past couple of years had been pretty pathetic in turnout. I was so underwhelmed to the point where I forgot to watch the webcast last year. Maybe Mid-Ohio next year will see 20+ cars.

Let's hope so - and it just might be more than that, given the location of most of the cars/drivers.

I'm betting that Steve's series could get some new sponsors next year and maybe bring in even more CENDiv entries than we had this year.

Rettich makes the FE race boring again... Just kidding... Aside from Scott running away the rest of the race was actually pretty exciting to watch. A bit of hard luck went to Reece with the actuator screw backing out, but pretty impressive up until that point. That little screw has bitten us on more than a few occasions.

It was very cool to see Paul and Brandon teaming together to try and catch Ryan. A little touch up paint on their noses may be in order.

synchronized spinning in the bus stop with Kennedy continuing straight away once completing the 360 was great. Best execution of the 'spin to pass' move I've ever seen.

An exciting opening lap with someone other than Rettich leading.
    Then things returned to normal.
This shot about lap 3 at the International Hairpin. 3rd place and back in view.

Gotta love guys that run SARRC stickers. Somehow Mrs, Frog always gets at least one clean shot of Paul. I hesitate to ever post because of the ugly Gaytor colors.

No SARRC sticker, but you gotta love any shot with a wheel in the air...

That's Brandon for ya.. grandpa paying the bills. He drives it like he stole it every single time. His accidental podium at Road America was great when he said he's really a boat racer (a pretty good one as I understand it!) and he just occasionally gets into race cars.

wish I had a granddad as cool as Wally!

    Default Nice

Nice job to the group of FE drivers. Clean and close racing for several positions. Well-deserved podiumers and professional interviews at end of race. SCCA.com coverage not bad as well.

Daytona's Bus Stop is one of the most fun sections of any track. Nice video there of great control, a bit of bad luck, and some good luck.

Thanks! Qualified tenth and finished ninth - and had some great racing in between.

Daytona is a far more technical track than I was prepared for - and when the heat and humidity are both over 85, it's physically challenging, as well.....

For a moment someone other than Scott lead a FE race. Brandon executed a great pass. Scott stayed cool and patient. All got through the corner on lap 1.

Scott needs more stickers on his car, a bit of the white is still shows through.

Just teasing cause I actually love the way his car looks. Congrats to all the FE racers.

Yeah, throttle pedal stop bolt got me once. That made for an interesting drive back to the trailer. Blue locktight.

EVERYTHING is subject to coming loose or backing out on a formula car. The FE powertrain has considerable vibration which 'helps' this phenomenon (not in a good way). Nut and bolt it often and thoroughly!

I don't think anything vibrated like our old shiferkarts! We had practically everything safety wired to keep them together!! But, DAMN they were fun...

(bet the banking was fun... haven't been on the banking there since 1970 in a Porsche 914-6... that dates me!)

Mike, I'm no Gator fan, but I do like the pictures that Mrs. Frog takes of me!. Tell her to take more!!

As for the Runoffs race itself, we had a great battle at the start from P2-P7 . As the laps went on, and Scott checked out , the battle dwindled to just 4 of us going for 2nd . In the closing laps, something happened in the chicane prior to our battle getting there. There was debris on the track and Aleckson got tangled in it and spun . At that point, I decided to conserve our 3rd place position and stopped pushing to get to Ryan in fear of losing a chance to stand on the podium. Out of all of the years of competing at the Runoffs, we had either finished 4th or wrecked out. So, getting to spray the champagne was very important . Mission: Accomplished !

Everything on a race vehicle needs to be locked down by either using self locking fasteners, safety wire, Loctite or some other method. Same reasons aircraft have practiced this since the first screw backed out of Orville's flying machine.

I'm thinking it's in process... You guys were the second to last race run so you'll be the second to last race to be put online, I'm guessing. Your race (P3-P7 or so) had the most amount of screen time. Not much coverage at all (actually none I can remember outside the top 10) back in the pack and not much of Rettich out front either since he was by himself after Reece dropped out.

Well, they got all of the other races up pretty quickly. Now, they seem to have stalled with their updates. Oh well, I'll just have to wait...

Maybe it will be worth the wait. I have watched all of them so far (some 2 & 3 times) They are pretty impressive with good commentary and multiple camera shots. Sometimes they buffer a little on the IPad, but hey, it the Runoffs

Overall, after viewing it fron the in car and on demand several times I thought everyone did an nice job. Besides Scott, it was pretty competitive with several good fights. Some benefitted from the dirt pile , some did not. We all put on a nice show and had a lot of fun. The FE group should be proud.

There was plenty of side-by-side action that didn't make it into the coverage, too. You nailed it, Lee - our group showed very well, given the number of opportunities we had to really mess it up!
