Some of our best mechanics are engineers. But then again some of our most brilliant engineers I wouldn't trust working on my wheelbarrow. Maybe you can't tell the difference? I think you are throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

To me, an engineer is a mechanic who happens to know why he's doing what he's doing. But I suppose to some people an engineer is a guy who knows why that other guy over there with dirty hands is doing what he's doing...

In England, you used to have do an apprenticeship as a mechanic (an example) before you could become an engineer. I think that engineers with a background as an actual mechanic (an example) make the best engineers.

    This is just my opinion.

I understand completely what Kris wants.
If he says, "Raise the front ride height 5 mm." He wants somebody that knows how to do that. And do it accurately.
He doesn't need someone to determine whether to raise the ride height 5mm or 8 mm. He already has that talent on board.

He especially does not want someone who will argue whether to do 5mm or 8mm.

If I wasn't booked solid with customer work I'd be sending in a resume'.

A great opportunity to jump into the deep end of formula car racing.

Don't expect much sleep from touchdown to takeoff. Do expect to eat pizza under the glow of halogen lights while your hands are dripping gear oil. Don't expect to be coddled. Do expect it to be intense. Don't expect to have time to check your emails on your phone. Do expect to be working for someone who really really really wants to win. Don't expect the drivers to have a clue about what you are doing. Do expect to be doing highly accurate work while standing in a river of water because the paddock doesn't drain well. Don't expect the canopy to be up Sunday after lunch even though the sun is high overhead and it's 100 degrees while you are changing a clutch. Do expect that the new part just overnighted from the factory will not fit. Do expect to feel proud when the car you worked on is on the podium.

    Serious fun.
