Default Hoosier FST - Rounds 3 & 4 at Grattan Raceway

Western Michigan Region is hosting the "Original Unrestricted" Double Regional at Grattan Raceway on June 28th and 29th. Its a GLDiv Divisional champ Series event (both races count) in our usual three race format. Qual session Saturday morning, race 1 Saturday afternoon, qual race Sunday morning and race 2 Sunday afternoon.

A lot of good reasons to come out:
-It's a part of the GLDiv Divisional Champ Series and, as such, is a qualifier for the Runoffs.
-If you haven't raced here before, its an awesome race track that is very technically challenging.
-The track was repaved a couple of years ago and is VERY smooth.
-The bathrooms, showers and concession stand kitchen have been remodeled/upgraded for this season.
-It'll be a great tune up for the Majors event to be held at Grattan in August.
-We have, BY FAR, the best track dinner Saturday night and that's included in the entry fee.

So come out, have some fun and get in a lot of time on a GREAT race track.

Registration is open for the event at http://wmr-scca.motorsportreg.com/. Please contact me (hdf3.wtr80@gmail.com) if you have any questions, etc. about the event.

Do we know yet if Grattan will have an open practice day on the Friday before the event. A few of us will have cars that need tested before the event.

So I can feel special now as I got Bill to join in.

Grattan with a new Larry Campbel shifter in my car will be great, I am looking forward to having more than one gear in my car.

Our goal is to have the conversion finished and make that weekend our first event. Should have a drivable car by the end of the week, then on to the bodywork.

    Default On to Grattan

Now that worries about the Nelson Race are over, let’s turn our attention to the upcoming Grattan rounds. I know that some more drivers are still not registered and, while registering late is always an option, I think it’s important to show our support to the organizers and register early. We need to help them know what they are dealing with in terms of groups and group sizes. If you have a new car that needs shaking down the Friday test day is a great opportunity.

C'mon folks.....we're just under the break even point....we need some more cars. It looks like the light entry list allows us to ADD A SESSION on Saturday and for all of us to get an early start home on Sunday. So we're adding 20 minutes of track time to the event. The weather looks great (low 80s and low chance of rain).....so whatcha waiting for? Lock and load folks. Regional racing needs your support.

Go to wmr-scca.motorsportreg.com to enter or email me (hdf3.wtr80@gmail.com) if you have any questions.

An additional session means a fantastic opportunity to develop your new car. All our drivers love Grattan, and will welcome new cars and drivers with open arms. Did anyone mention the martinis and single malt combined with videos of action at the jump turn?

    Default survey at grattan

I don’t want everyone to be quaking in your boots but I’ve prepared a survey instrument so we can see the features of Formula FST that appeal to our members and the intensity of your beliefs. Should take about a minute. I’m bringing pencils.

We (the board) are considering bringing FST in as a national class to expand opportunities to members who desire to participate in close by majors. The more info the better.

I will get it to members who are not at Grattan

Due to low car count, WMR has decided to juggle the classes into different run groups. Moving from six to four groups will free up enough time to add a 20 session on Saturday. The revised schedule and run groups can be found below (pardon the formatting) as well as on MSR.

Registration is open until midnight ET tonight. So it's not too late to sign up. Email me (hdf3.wtr80@gmail.com) if you have any questions.

    Default Rounds 3 & 4 This Weekend

Round 3 & 4 of The 2014 Hoosier Tire Formula First Championship Series will take place this weekend at Grattan Raceway in Belding, MI. A few last minute issues has reduced the anticipated grid, but still a good size field by todays standards.

Here is your line up for the weekend:

    # 37 Robert Clark Evolution CM-1 TeamClark Motorsport, Rochester, MI
    # 88 Dave Dawson Campbell Evolution South Bend, IN
    # 11 Aaron Deer Campbell Evolution United National Reserve Elgin, IL
    # 56 Sam Farmiga Adams Acer-J Scuderia Farmiga West Chester, OH
    # 17 Brian Finegan Campbell Evolution LMI, St Baldric’s Plainfield, IL
    # 14 Phil McSherry Mysterian M2 Kent, OH
    # 5 Doug Seim Mysterian M5.1 P&NP Computers/AutoWerks Okeana, OH
    # 90 Douglas Sharp DC Jacer V2K2 Sharp Chiropractic & Advocare
    Kawkawlin, MI

A few notables, Phil McSherry will have his freshly converted Mysterian M2 out for the first time. The biggest worry is how much tech hassle he will potentially get from WMR's world famous "Three Thread Ed". Brian Finegan will be at Grattan for the first time and with a fresh Curtis Farley engine. Dr. Doug Sharp will be in the Jacer for the first time this season as will Aaron "Butch" Deer.

Should be a great weekend as I understand that Grattan has installed greatly improve bathrooms!

I truly wish I was going.

Good luck to all the competitors
