    Default A Tech Question

I my memory serves me right, helmets and gear are checked on an calendar year basis, but the annual for a car is based on 12 months from the last annual.

    Can someone confirm my belief?

    Thanks

A car's annual tech is a 12 month deal but belts can expire during that year. Your logbook should state that when the annual is done (i.e., belts expire after Dec 2014). During the annual tech inspection, personal gear and helmets are usually checked. At your first event of the year, you will need to get your helmet inspected and the current year's helmet sticker applied. GCR calls for gear to be checked at the year's first event also but that is sporadic.

Although the car's annual is for a 12 month period, it is incumbent on the driver to regularly inspect the car and keep it in a safe condition. After all, it is the driver's butt in the car - not the Scrutineer's.
