    Default RPMs?

Well. I had my first stint in my new DSR and dropped a valve in only my second session. The reasons behind the failure are somewhat known...doesn't "look like" driver error (most likely).

Question: What is the "common ground" when it comes to a max rpm for NON RACING events (track days, DE's,) where engine longevity is the focus while driving the car at 80-85%
    of potential?

I popped the cherry right away - literally!

    Thx!

What engine make and yr are you running?

MOST valve dropping is the result of changing down one too many gears, and over reving the engine.

You would be hard pressed to break a valve on acceleration as the rev limiter will kick in before a valve hits a piston (floats).

The most popular bike engine in SCCA is the 07/08 GSXR 1000 and it will not live through repeated usage of the rev limiter, either. The rod bolts will stretch juuuuuuuuust enough to open up the clearance on that rod bearing and BLAMMO!
