"By George, I think he's got it":

211 BHP, not sure if measured at Crankshaft or Output (Sprocket) shaft.

    Default ecu

The rules have always required the use of the stock ecu. The stock bmw ecu was widely reported as "difficult to impossible" to make work in a car. I knew someone could.... and would get it to work without an aftermarket ecu. It just takes a skilled computer geek to figure it out. I have no idea if they accomplished that....and so come back to Mike's question.....was it a stock ecu?

    Default Motors at the Runoffs

I was wondering when the motor thread would crank up. No pun intended

The Kawasaki: Big motor on top end reported out west. Perfect for Road America.
If the BMW shows: That may be the monster motor if it shows up?
Then there is the tried and true and dependable 07/08 Suzuki with great torque. But that may not be enough.

Reliability always plays a factor in the outcome of the Runoffs.

It will be interesting as the Runoffs always has gossip about what may be showing up and who may have plugged in different motor for the Runoffs.

I am running my same 08 GSXR from last year. I may even change the oil

I've been holding my tongue for two weeks, but yes, I saw it at Barber. He was running under the overall track record (about 2 seconds faster than Will Power's Indy Car qualifying time).

Brandon said John Paul did a pretty good job bolting the engine in, so there really wasn't much work for him and Wren to do. They were surprised the traction control worked so well without any adjustments. Wren said they'll add fuel to the car each morning during the Runoffs, but didn't expect there'd be much else to do.

I don't think Jake will be much of a threat with that setup. After he puts all the chrome farkles on it, it will weight WAY to much. See you guys soon, Dave.

Ya'll are just jealous that I got Dennis Hopper to come back from the dead and be my mechanic to work on the #5 Easy Rider machine.

My plan is to jump the start, oil the track, and cruise to victory.

I'm assuming that the references of how well the "traction control" translated over with the use of the MV Agusta engine is either: A. a dig to see who comes unglued at the prospect of an active traction control system working in this four wheel application. or B. a reference to the "detuning" maps available with the stock MV Agusta electronics that allow a rider (driver) to select a map with less abrupt torque changes as well as less overall HP.

Those systems (the detuning systems) might well be handy in wet weather conditions. Any true traction control system on a bike would involve a "g" sensor (for serious lean angles) and sensors from front wheel and rear wheel for correlation. This type of traction control system which might work quite well on a two wheeled, leaning vehicle but would not have the built in parameters for use in four wheeled application.

I may be over-reacting to what amounts to a fairly funny joke or I may be calling attention to a mis-use of the description of traction control but I'm pretty sure that a true "traction control system" is banned by current FB rules.

Spent dusk watching the formula cars do their last practice session and trying to learn where everybody is parked. OBTW, Brandon Dixon at T5 is impressive. I didn't put a watch on him, but those that did said he hasn't lost any speed taking the year off.

    Default Imminent Protest

It seems that the SCCA FB rules mandated factory service manual will come into play.
The copy that Dixon was able to produce from MV Agusta is printed in Italian - I have asked the SCCA Court of Appeals for a ruling... Stay tuned.

Can a guy named Giancarlo protest due to a manual being only written in Italian? Watch out that you don't get Papis'd.
