Default Inaugural Atlantic Championship Series event updates...

........to follow, the tentative entry list is coming together kicking and screaming and it is my full intention to post it by the end of this coming weekend.
As several prep shop principles can attest I have been tormenting them, and their customers, to commit and support the Road Atlanta event.
With lots of rumors regarding the current GCR rules and Table E we are forging ahead and ask any and all Atlantic runners to be part of the process of reviewing the rules for the future.
We do, as with F2000 and F1600, have the ability and the intent to modify rules pending our experience at Atlanta. While we have rarely changed any spec during a race weekend we do have that option should any given situation be untenable for any substantial number of competitors.
So, holdon a few days and we'll have an entry list with the inaugural competitors heading south in a week plus.

I want to take this opportunity to applaud the work Michael and Staff are putting into F1600, F2000 and now FAtlantic.

There is a current thread on Ten Tenths Motorsport about the global "crisis" amongst the lower levels of formula car racing. It is evident to me that Michael and Staff are proving those naysayers wrong, at least here in America.

Thanks for your efforts Michael, and those who work with you.

Default Thanks to Mike Rand and his cohorts

AMEN to that. I doubt that any naysayers have attended any of our events over the last couple of years. Hard work and organization on their part results in the most fun legally (or socially acceptable anyway)available for a very large number of racers at every event. Not to mention professionally and fairly run.

i'm gonna be a busy boy all weekend running in both series!

Between the two cars, I'll be doing 4 hours on track thursday!!!! 3 hours straight in the AM testing (switching back and forth between cars on pit lane) and then another hour in the afternoon qualifying!!!! It's gonna be a blast!!!!!!!!!!!
Awww, come on guys, it's so simple. Maybe you need a refresher course. Hey! It's all ball bearings nowadays.

keep up the good work mike! We know you've been busting your ass to make this series happen!

All joking aside, if you've got an FA legal car bring the damn thing out and come racing!!!! FAs rock and deserve better than being garage queens.

    Stan,
I am not going to be spreading rumors, my post was merely to alert interested runners that the whispers in my head have gotten pretty loud and insistent recently.
I have in the past gotten in hot water for actually saying what the voices tell me to, apparently even I can learn a lesson on occasion !

    On a serious note.

At 5 p.m. Friday May 11th at Road Atlanta there will be a meeting hosted by the Atlantic Championship Series to discuss what the competitors in the Atlantic Championship Series would like to see in a rule set going forward.

I have heard the same "voices" that Rand has. Maybe they will go public on Friday the 11th.

The winner of the auction of the Swift FA "stuff" has had great cooperation from the folks at Swift since the sale. Inventory has begun, to proceed shipment east. This afternoon he told me that he has decided to let Carl Haas be the outlet for all the parts, both those currently in inventory and those to be built.

Allan O'Lear from Carl Haas is expected to attend the inaugural Atlantic Championship Series event this weekend at Road Atlanta to provide a introduction and status update to Atlantic owners.

At this time the majority of inventory appears to be 016 and some 014.

In my case, i didn't have permission to use it a few weeks ago, and i forgot to ask to release it in the last call. And, he hasn't come out on Apexspeed himself... So, i just typed it safe.

Default Getting into the track to join the party?

    Hi Guys,

Flying down in the morning to spectate and attend the town hall meeting. Looking forward to it!! How does one get into the track? Just bring your SCCA license and pay at the gate or any special tricks?

    Thanks,
    Matt

All of us competitors, workers, and racers have tickets to enter the track on friday and saturday. We are running in conjunction with Formula Drift, which draws a lot of people, so they are quite strict on letting people into the track without paying for a ticket.

I am not sure if there is any other way to get into the track without purchasing a ticket at the gate, hopefully someone else can chime in and help you out!

Great, paying for ticket is what I thought. I wasn't sure if it was a spectator event or not.

    Thanks,

I was told that both Mallinen (Swan) and Liverato (K-Hill) had other commitments and were unable to attend. Kris also indicated that he expects to have five cars at the next race at NJMP.

I just read that David Grant ran a 1:16.89 lap on his way to victory at Road Atlanta today. And that was in a "club" spec Swift 014. That is an incredible lap time that I suspect will stand for a long time.

Congrats to David and all the other competitors this weekend.

David, Keith, and Jason; considering he missed the 1st 4 sessions, certainly got down to business and showed what FA cars should be doing.

Props to John Burke for giving a car to keith after keith suffered yet another failure in Q2 so Keith could atleast make the race. Talk about a weekend of change , start with a 1800 change after 1 session to a 1600, get that dialed back in then have to change to a different car all together at the last possible moment.
