    Default Pertronix 1843

After test fitting this kit I noticed a problem. The tiny ground strap is too thick to let the base plate lay flat on the mating surface. Is this strap needed after the install of the electronic ignition? Should I just grind it down and sandwich it between baseplate and mating surface? I could possibly crimp a ring connector on the end of it and secure it to the baseplate with the nut that secures the module to the baseplate. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. -M

Since your base plate is welded you dont need the ground. The ground is only needed when the plate rotates for vacuum advance.
