    Default "and other FF drivers..."

Are Honda-powered FF's still excluded? Would be a shame, but it is your series. Please advise...

    Thx,

    Dave,

The Honda powered Formula F car should be at the Double National at Buttonwillow.....
We've seen a couple of Hondas so far this year, not sure if you were one of them, but very nice package, and quite quick!

    DanW, FlaggerMark -

Thanks for your replies. Still no reply from Richard H. to my Honda question, but I think I know his answer. Really not that keen on buying a set of American Racers for a one-weekend event anyway...guess they could always be sold to a CF racer afterward?

Re the Buttonwillow Dbl Natl, thanks for the invite, and no, you haven't seen my Piper/Honda there yet. Hopefully that will change for the Pro F1600 race on 5/21-22 weekend, but probably won't make your Dbl Natl.

    Cheers,
    DaveZ

    Dave,

I do hope you can bring you and your wonderful car out to play. If you come out and run, I will buy your used AR tires from you.

    Regards,
    Dan

    Richard,

I think its very disappointing to exclude an entrant because of powerplant brand. We are getting together to have fun with our friends and commemorate Dick "Flashy" Ryan. The entries aren't exactly flooding in either.

Years ago, I had a '63 DelFosse Formula Four that I submitted to CSRG vintage for entry. It was authentic and complete "as raced", with documented history going back to the second owner and magazine articles in SportsCar Illustrated for further documentation. The entry was declined because the car lacked "provenance" and looked "too new".

I haven't gone near CSRG since.

    Default Thanks to all

Special Thanks to Bill Godwin, SFR Vintage Chief and Richard Holladay of "The Series"/HSR West, and Ed Swart, of HSR West for jointly hosting this event.

First one could not have asked for better weather at Laguna. Second, even though I was "Tail End Charlie" when they threw the green, it was really exciting to see 30+ FFs take the green flag. Excitement for me was the waving yellow at the top of the Corkscrew on the first lap as I came flying in late.

Car ages ranged from 1969 to 2008? There was a full complement of makes and models.

What I really appreciate was the overall clean racing all weekend. Everyone raced hard, except maybe for the #76 orange Zink that had a PBWS (Problem Between Wheel and Seat).

As I was lapped several times over the weekend, I had the opportunity to follow multiple intense dices for at least two or three corners. The level of car control and tactics were pretty amazing from where I sat.

I happened to invite several friends from the Golden Gate Lotus Club and my work. They all surprised me by showing up with more friends in tow for the Show on Sunday! My paddock was full of pre-schoolers and school age kids taking turns getting their pics taken in my car. They were very happy to watch some great races from the shade of the trees below the Corkscrew and wander the paddock to see some historic and rare cars.

Several people mentioned the BFDA (British Ford Drivers Association) with their turnout of Cortinas, Lotus Cortinas, Escorts, and Capris and all of the Datsun 510s and 240Zs.

Last, commemorating Dick "Flash" Ryan, vintage FV driver, notorious automotive writer and ride mooch. Godspeed Flashy.

    Regards,
    Dan Wise

This is the four car battle for the lead. This car passes for the lead, then ends up fourth. They don't race at Vintage events..do they.

    Default Went as a Spectator

I went as a spectator (and to check out the FV's as that's what I was considering) and the Formula Fords stole the weekend. Beautiful cars, gentlemen, and great racing.
