    Post

It's perhaps slightly OT but does reference the FF2000 mod and does mention you guys and what you are doing to help us develop this mod.

I was a racer long before I sat in front of the computer screen anf got involved in driving sims.
Driver Training and Coaching was/is my passion and I returned to this and to competition driving last year. I do see a value in Driving Simulation for real world drivers, not just for novice training but for skills development also.

I know some may share my views here, maybe we are not there yet but there is still some value IMO.

I posted a response to a thread in the Official GTR2002 (a mod for the F1-2002 game from EA Sports) forum which touched on the area of "How close to reality is the handling/physics in GTR2002".

It was originally asking for posts from GTR drivers who had also raced in real life - I had, so posted. A couple of guys asked how real GTR physics felt plus I've been asked that same type of question by many of my GPL and sim racing buddies - so it was an ideal way to answer all those queries.

I've not driven GTR much but had come to some conclusion and over the next 3 weeks built up what became quite a large post. The points it makes are also relevant to GPL & Nascar Heat mods and they are mentioned in places. It has since been followed up by many questions and responses and has turned out to be quite an in-depth discussion of this topic which has also broadened out into a couple of other forums, West Racing and BHMS.

It was suggested to me that I might spread the word around a bit to those who might not read those forums and who might be "particularly" interested in this subject.

I will say that, if you have just a passing interest, or you don't have an hour or so to kill then it may not be for you as it's quite lengthy - but, If you have an interest there is lots of good info there (from all contributors) I thought "what the hell" even though I may have consigned myself to another few days worth of response posting.

The initial post is HERE (GTR2002 Official Forum at simbin.com). I pitch in on page 3 initially but my big post is on page 4.

It was picked up by someone and mentioned it HERE (General forum at West Racing) and there followed much comment.

I was also asked if I'd mind BHMS publishing it, I didn't and so it is also HERE with a few typo corrections and some reader responses.

    Maxx.

PS. In the posts (somewhere) I do rate the FF2000 mod as one of the best there is for Heat - I'm specifically talking of the soon to be released final version with it's more realisic engine performance but handling wise, what you guys are using (the open-beta) is what I am referring to.

Damn Maxx when's the book coming out?.
You've done more typing in that forum than i've done in my life.
I do agree with you about the pitching of the GTR cars it does spoil the feel of it.
I know nothing about real racing but I would expect a much stiffer ride.

Very nice Maxx. I couldn't agree more.

Chris and Tony West actually run with us from time to time in our Thursday night Ferrari Challange league. And it's Chris who first pointed me to your original long post.

Btw, this is what Chris had to say after reading your post.

"Indeed. We do agree that Heat has the best feel of any sim out there."

Just though you'd be interested in that. :0)
