Jerry, Please follow one of the methods below. It DOES work.

    Infinite experience, infinite money:
Note: Always make a backup copy before edit a game file. Locate the
    "OWChallenge.cch" file in the "\UserData\<your profile>\" folder.
Open it with a text editor and find the following line:

    [CAREER]

Bellow, you will find "Experience=" and "Money=" strings with values.

    Example:
    Experience=0
    Money=500

Change the values as your desire, then save the file and run the game.

Unlock most of cars and extra money:
Choose either of the two race car classes the main menu. Then, choose
"Control" and start a test run on any track. At the debriefing menu, type
ISI_BABYFACTORY in the dialog box to the bottom left of the menu. Choose
"Send" then quit from the race. Note: The code is case-sensitive.

    Default Found it...

    hey guys..
Keith.. found it at 5:00 am right before leaving for work today.. went to rfactor forums and searched there and found this:
    http://www.rfactorcentral.com/forum/...&enterthread=y

it is a problem more with windows 7. i went to my shortcut icon for rfactor and right clicked. then clicked "run as administrator". then started the game and i knew right then i fixed it, cause i wasn't locked into the tin top. went to OW challenge, got my car, went to Topeka, typed in the isi thingy. now i got tons of money and got the slicks on the car. next step is to try to get on-line with the car.

question: is the apexspeed site up 24/7 or just specific times? if specific times, what are the hours?

so, if anybody out there upgrades to windows 7 and seems locked in - do above
i will post here and in my other thread.
thank you all for the help..

    Default thanks and more ?'s

    doug & criss..

    anyone:
i got some laps in at Topeka in off-line mode. not many, but a few. then i went back to the forums and went into the thread "rfactor server info" by Keith. i did the filezilla thing and downloaded everything into rfactor. then got almost on line. i had the raceworks/2005 rtrainer/rfactor academy from the ow challenge with upgrade. typed in Keith's home ip, clicked on the apexspeed, typed in password. showed my car, went to load and it started to load Topeka. then everything quit and went to a window, windows is shutting down rfactor due to a problem. don't know what problem. so i moved the ow.rfm file that i got from filezilla from the main rfactor into the rfm file. tried again - same thing. try-ed to go back before i downloaded from filezilla to see if i could system restore. it did, but files from filezilla are still in rfactor... i know, i am a puter putz

oh, by the way - what is the range of lap times you guys are turning. i got about 10 laps in - best 1:52 don't laugh, I'm trying

I will try to wrap my head around your problem and figure out if i know anything that can help. As for lap times I raced all season last year and made progress and such it just takes time.

Online lap times from the server are real-time updated here: http://home.comcast.net/~keith.carter/trackpedia/

Click on "Live Timing" and you get a track map with actual on track displays, as well as sector times. The Hotlaps section is personal bests in order, compared to everyone else.

    Default We have launch (-:

    hey guys..
got in, finally! i uninstalled everything and started over (unfortunately, that means i don't have my force feed back yet) but i did some hot laps. doug, thanks for the tips. it feels a lot different lapping on line than off. very skatty - will take some time, but that is what winter is for.
plus that, i have to start rfactor with right clicking of the start icon and clicking run as a administrator every time for it to work right. i think it is a windows 7 thing. i think that was the problem.
But now --- on to the fun stuff.

just to say, didn't know everybody was using their names. i am "jerrari". and, as i told doug, be careful around me, i have been spinning a lot.. sorry in advance

Glad to see you were able to get on, Jerry! Once the league starts, it would be preferred to use your real name. It would be easier to do now before you start making any real tweaks to your force feedback settings or setups. Welcome to the fun!!!

Have you run the FV mod yet, Bob? As much as I'd like it, I think most people would get REALLY bored with it. It's 2 gears (3rd and 4th, like a real FV), and you try to get around the track lifting as little as possible, and barely touching the brakes. I don't see it being a very popular mod. Maybe I'm wrong. Anyone interested in participating in the league should download it and try it. It might be a lot more fun with more cars on the track, too. I'd love to get about 18-24 guys who were comfortable with that mod to race with, as I think it would be a lot of fun, personally. No room for bad driving habits, that's for sure.

I vote for anything that is stable to drive, and includes a reasonably fast default setup that doesn't require a LOT of time to dial in to be in the ballpark. The fBMW that was originally proposed from last year is what I don't want. I don't care how fast or slow it is, as long as it's not a white-knuckled experience on every lap to just keep it on the track.

Well said Doug. Having it be white knuckle the entire time I think would be put off for some. I think a car with a good base setup is something to focus for. I know most on apex are leaning towards open wheelers, not sure what trackpedia people might prefer. Are we even considering tin tops/sports cars?

The FV mod was ok, haven't given it much time. I could see how on some longer tracks it could be a bit dull. Is the vintage FV mod the same with just different car bodies?

Also since last year there has been some new tracks added and updates to tracks that we ran. There is a new version of Road America in the works and seems to be a greater improvement, for instance of higher polygon count on the uphill leading to S/F would prevent the bottoming out that is experenced.

Also anyone good at painting helmets in game?

People whined to get a full body car last winter, then we went with the SRF to make them happy, and many of them didn't stick with the league more than a couple of races. I think John and Keith are pretty set on an open wheeled car, considering that they both race formula cars. Maybe it will keep the peeps from being overly aggressive and running into people as brake markers.

The rFactor Trainer is actually a really good little race car and relatively easy to drive. I'm going to try the F3 car tonight to see what it's like, but outside of spec cars, they all have the same adjustments for people to wrench themselves into Bolivian.

And helmets are a bitch to paint. I did mine, John's and Keith's last year, but they took as long or longer than the SRF car skins to do properly.

Ok thanks. I will race what ever we decide to race. I wanna go fast.....I mean I want to have fun and learn. As for the helmet, i was just curious cause I have a helmet not so thought it be nice to do it instead of default one.

And more insane talk from me but has anyone made their own LED tach? I was driving the other day when I realized the rfactor one was out of my direct focus.

Keith's advice for turning the force feedback to negative percentage on my Logitech Momo was the shiznit for me (and even the wheel without it was better than the joystick). Now the steering wheel feels like something usable, a big step above the Pole Position-like feel it had before. My only problem now is the game freezes when a session ends and I'm viewing the garage.

I'm down to race whatever everyone else does, as long as it has a template so I can make my own paint job for it. Preferably the Trainer or the F3 though.

Is there any chance for a short track oval race on the schedule? I know we're all road racers here, but still...

Glad I could help Cameron! Not sure I've heard about the game freezing issue when a session ends though. Does it lock up your entire system, or just rFactor? Maybe try a newer/older video card driver? There are lots of crazy things that cause lock ups. I had a problem that had plaqued me for most of the season last year where I would have 2-3 seconds freezes in mid race. When the screen would unfreeze, I would be off track or into a wall or something. It turned out it was my power supply which was underpowering my system. I upgraded to a more reputable brand power supply with more wattage and it cured my problem.

I'm a PC (before the Mac folks pile on), and...

Thanks! And yes, the power supply is next on the list since I've pretty much done everything that didn't involve spending money to fix the problem while keeping the game above 1989's Papyrus Indy 500 quality. At least its not freezing my PC every time on the second lap any more, so that's a good thing.

    Thanks,

    Cameron

An AGP Nvidia GeForce 7950GT powered by an old, dusty, but somewhat quiet 350W Antec power supply. AGP should tell you how old the rest of my PC is. Unplugging the RAID and making sure very little else is running while playing RFactor has helped the most, as well as putting the video card on its own set of wires coming out of the PS. It freezes with other games too (almost any graphically intensive game that isn't extensively "de-tuned", except GTA San Andreas for some reason), so about all that's left is to get a new PS. At one point, I even thought it was DirectX 9.0c, but since thats a pain to roll back, it's time to open the wallet and move to the 21st century with my power supply. I think I'll concentrate on driving for a few days though! Still better than trying to chase electrical gremlins on an FB I bet...

Now, back to the discussion at hand...

AGP! Wow I haven't heard that in a while. I am running the eVGA version of that same card that is slightly overclocked, but with PCI express. I would recommend for you at least a 500W minimum power supply just to be on the safe side. I was waiting till windows 7 came out before I did my next build and it looks like that time has come...now where is that money tree? I am thinking down the line with all my builds so I try to go top line at reasonable prices. 1KW is going to the be minimum for my next power supply.

As for the Logitech wheels all of them have to be put into negative force feedback, something to do with the coding for the logitech game devices. Is anyone using or happen to use the new Fanatec GT3 RS wheel?

And short tracks/ovals! We do not believe in such things....get that filth out of here. Ok maybe being a bit overboard lol, but seriously...no lol.

I hope I can get all this work done for school so I can try making some laps more then 10 minute segments.

Chris you better get on your game man...4 seconds off the pace. Are you driving the FV rTrainer version. :P

Can't wait to get the season rolling guys. Should be fun. Looking like 8 tracks over 16 weeks will be what we shoot for so everyone has the time to learn the tracks and it becomes an easy commitment.

Of course I am 4 seconds off....I am me! And do you mean by FV rtrainer? Do you mean it is the slowest thing from rfactor? That might sound like fighting words...time to find the missiles and rocket attachments. After tomorrows exam I will don the helmet and do laps...

And 8 races....lame, lol. Last season I know was long but if you missed a race it wouldn't effect you as much. Plus gave us a good range of tracks. Any chance of a sprint race then a final or something? Also what tracks are you thinking of running?

I have an older Gateway with the agp slot. Bumped the power supply up to 650w, maxed out my ram to 2g, and got a sapphire ati radeon 3850 with 512 mb. works pretty well but still flinches a little sometimes. Its about as far as I can go with this system. And I overclock the cpu from 2g to 2.2 g.

I would vote for the rf3 myself. even if you went to some sort of "spec " setup. The other car just seemed a bit weird to me.. Once you started to slide a bit you almost had to completly stop regain control of it. Plus I just painted my rf3 tonight haha. Don't worry Chris I will be at the tail of the field with you this year so we can put tire marks on each other's car.

Does yours come pre painted with the tire marks already on it? And you assume I will be at the end of the pack. I am liking the rF3 so much more then the rTrainer.
