I can't draw a diagram, but the normal, base-line oil flow is:
Oil pan pickup to scavenge section in,
Scavenge out to oil cooler
Oil cooler to oil tank in
Oil tank out to pressure section in
Pressure out to oil filter in
Oil filter out to engine in
engine to oil pressure gauge.
Top of oil tank to vent.
Top of engine to top of tank to vent.
With a four port pump, you don't have an engine input port on the pump itself, which isn't all that bad becuase the input port on the pump goes into about the worst place for flow. The best place for flow without drilling extra holes is probably the port on the left hand front face of the block (header side), since that is a straight shot into the main oil gallery. Second best would be the cross-drilling from between the stock engine mount bolt-holes, that gets you straight into the cross passage from the pump side to the gallery side. Both of those you would need to drill and tap for a fitting. I usually use the hole into the oil gallery underneath the distributor for the oil pressure gauge line.
In an ideal world, you would feed oil into the engine in the middle of the main gallery with a big, unrestricted feed line, and read the pressure from the end of the main gallery after all bearing feeds. Mostly people use -10 (5/8") line for everything, but some use -12 for scavenge and some use -8 for pressurized lines.

I put the oil into the engine at the oil gallery at the left front of the engine. You must be very careful when installing the fitting in the gallery. If you screw the fitting in too deeply, it will block the oil passage to the front main. Look in the oil passage, and measure carefully!

my current lines run oil pan sccavege lineup to pump at 7oclock out at 2 oclock over to oil tank [no oil cooler]. out bottom of oil tankto oil pump at 10 oclock ,thru pump out at 4oclock up to oil filter. out oil filter ,feeds around ft.of block and intoheader side ft.oil galley . please advise if this is agood setup . iam fireing the eng. tonight ,after rebuild. trying to make it to pittsburg historics/beaver run this weekend.leaving thurs.morning HELP! saga cont. cranked motor on starter ,plugs out, 20 lbs on starter. using -10 oil lines. will fire up tonight ,11 pm & open headered race eng. arn't cool in our neiborhood. pump is not marked on pressure side just need to know about lines at 10&4 oclock thanks!
10 o'clock is the oil inlet from the tank, 4 o'clock is the pressure out to the oil filter

another way to think of it is inputs are on the left side of the pump, outputs are 180 degrees across on the right side of the pump.
