    Default Lotus 61 originallity

    Hello all,
So I have finally got my Lotus 61 in my garage and made a dummy build of the parts from the boxes

I have some questions about origniallity as I will try to restore it to original condition.
What colour should the frame be? Someone told me that the Lotus gray was surplus light gray from the aircraft industry after WW2. The rollhop on my car have been replaced but I think I will keep it

    1. I guess that this bracket is cut to fit the more modern low bodywork, should it have the hole marked?

    2. How should the radiator attachments look like?

    3. When I make a new instrument panel what should the joint look like? I have seen panels with leather some with alu panel and some steel with paint finish

    4. What is the marked hole in the centre for? Is the hole to the right original as it doesnt have a chamfer

    5. What are these brackets for? what should they look like?

    6. This bracket looks home made, should it be there and if so how sohuld it look?

    7. I guess that this is orignial

    8. Is this the Arch Motors frame No?

    9. Is this strenghtening original? There is one just like it on the RH wishbone but on underside

    10. Are these calipers original?

    11. Is this swirlpot original?

    12. What are these for?

    13. Is this an original oil cooler bracket?

Might the buttons (#12) be the attachment fittings for the oil tank? Through grommets installed in the supports and then pinned with washers? Have seen this on other cars of the day.

    Default Dash bulkhead?

I don't think that the upper section where the gauges go is the original shape.
Should be more of a top hat shape.

I'm sure Peter can help out with that.
I restored a 61 then 51 a long time ago and remeber the fun I had doing it
They are neat cars for sure!

    Default Dash

    Jeff
Do you mean the bulkhed on the pictures above or the pictures of the new dash on my homepage? The measurements for the new one was taken from a car believed to be original #129 mine is #160
