Congrats to David Grant on his win. And congrats to Apexspeed's own Jason Byers for his strong finish in his RT-41.

I was just looking over the results again and it appears that Jim Gustafson was also there in his beautiful DB4. Nice job, Jim. If you get a chance let us know your impressions of the race weekend. Do you have any on-board video that we could see?

Thanks Rick for the encouraging words. Some overall observations from my perspective (my first Sprints was many decades ago):

Compared to last year I thought everyone was much better behaved, last year there were 2 pace care segements, yellows waving everywhere on every lap and this year it was much better. When you put three fast, faster and fastest open wheel classes in one group, totaling nearly 50 cars, serious stuff can happen. Stuff did happen, but all in all it wasn't bad. The track wasn't covered in marbles off line like last year. Kudos to the corner workers and track management for their effort in this regard. The new FB cars are something to behold, Formula One comes to the June Sprints. They are a great addition to the show. The overall level of competition in FA has really risen the last couple of years with all of the really well driven, ex-pro cars on the grid. A winning car/driver combination three years ago is now 5th or 6th on the grid, a top ten car is now 15th. It was nice to see Arnie Loyning making the rounds, and many of the other usual suspects as well. The Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel had a very nice column in Monday's paper, written by Dave Kallman with his usual insight. It's a must see at www.jsonline.com. I think at the Sprints, there might be more big-rig haulers and high end motor coaches than at an Indy Car race. Of course it's nice to see all of this balanced out with the single axle open trailers as well. As for me and my DB-4, we pretty much sucked, having little niggling problems and missing all but one session, starting way back in traffic, and going off at 7 on the last lap. I got unbuckled and out of the car, and I heard someone yelling to me "did you stop to have a beer with us"? It was my brother in law and my sister who drove down from Manitowish Waters, WI and happed to be watching right there. I have some great video we took on May 31, but sold all of our new POV.1 camera systems at the Sprints, including mine and so, have no clips to offer. Congratulation to the winners, those at the back, and everyone in between.

    Hi Jim,

Thanks for your insight, and for the link to the Kallman article. I hope that the DB4 is still in one piece and ready for the next race. It's a long tow for me......but perhaps I can join you next year. Maybe we can talk some other DB4 guys into making the journey?

    Rick
