    Default Hawke steering rack info

    Hello
Does anyone know the origin of the Hawke DL2a steering rack outer parts?
ie the steering arm from the rack to the steering arm.
It must be from a std road car!?

A long long time ago, Keith Averill raced a Hawke FF.

I am not sure of the model, but if anyone knows, he would be one of the most likely.

    Default Averill

    Keith raced a Hawke DL12.
Unfortunately for Henrik, the DL12's had/have fabricated (I guess the Brits would say "bespoke"?) steering links and steering rack clevises. I do not believe they came from a production car. My DL12 rack had 7/8" external threads on each end, a lock nut, a clevis type fitting with the matching internal thread, and then a ~10.2" fabricated link to the upright. I'm guessing the earlier DL2's may have had a production car part?

Is there any way you could post a picture of the part, or at least describe it?

    Two recommendations:
    1) send a note to Nathan Poole at the Hawke Registry site and see if someone will help you there, http://www.vintagegarage.com/hawkeregistry.html

    2) Contact the folks at Jack Knight Developments and see if they could provide you with the steering rack part you need. http://www.jackknight.co.uk/ (They're a bit hard to get ahold of.)

    Good luck,
    Erik

    Default Hawke rack

    Hello
here is a picture of the Hawke rack
    http://hhtech.se/slask/hawke_rack.jpg
The housing is "Lazenby" so that is special but the steering arm looks very simialr to the Triumph vitesse rack http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/vitesse/images/60a.gif
which I guess would be sinmilar to the Triumph Spitfire.

I'm a little confused to exactly what part you need.

I have been told that my DL12 uses a Triumph Herald steering box and associcated bits. The casting with Lazenby on it is just a copy of the Triumph.

I had a DL-2. It used a Triumph rack that had the steering shaft pinion on the RH or LH side of the rack-not in the middle like most cars. I can email you some info on the car that I received from Hawke years ago if you'd like.

Default Steering Rack Tie Rod Ends

Those pictured are definately Spitfire parts... probably common to just about every Triumph from the era.
