Tony,
This may sound really dumb, but....shake the car harness at the ECU or give the ECU a couple of little taps.

We had to shake our wires a bit to get it to work.

Measuring the voltage at the plug proved to be very difficult. It turned out to be a 5 volt system and we could only get a reading in milivolts. The connection and software sound good on your car. I think it may be a chassis harness issue.

Wiggle things around. Also, Re-boot everything, with the car connected.

Car On, Ignition On, reboot PC and start software.

I finally just unbolted the comms port and plugged it directly into my laptop and it worked. Something must have been up with the cable or adapter or something. Now the stupid car won't start. It just blows smoke out the exhaust. It sounds like it wants to start but won't, it pops a couple of time then nothing then pops another couple of times and so on. I can smell the gas but no fire. Should I start by checking the plugs or what is the best way to start diagnosing?

With all of the information the mapping software shows, does anyone have the parameters that each bit of information is supposed to be set at? Would enterprises share the mapping information?

Tony, I've had too many calls since yesterday and your work number is no longer on my caller id. Give me a call at 815-845-2538 and we'll discuss your problem.

Several months ago I had several detailed conversations with Shannon at Enterprises about the ECU and MBE software. I was told as policy they cannot and will not provide details of what the ECU is set to, what effect those settings might have (specifically) or even an email with ranges.

I relayed what my settings were to him and he cross referenced with whatever materials to determine what problem I had.

Thanks for all the info on the TPS. I downloaded the software and bought a USB to serial connector, loaded the software, plugged it into the 9 pin connector on the car and bingo, TPS voltage reading. It was 1.06 so elongated the holes and adjusted down to .96 after setting to butterfly to .004. Will crank it tomorrow as I just poured a bead seat and am waiting for it to set up.

Question: When I clicked on some of the icons to access additional information, it asked me for a PIN number to get into it. Does Enterprises have us locked out of that or does someone have a PIN number that will work?

Thanks, Chuck

You guys are killing me.
I hooked up my laptop the same way as Chuck and I
cannot get it to find the ECU. I even dragged my desktop PC
to the garage and plugged it directly to the serial port, NOTHING!!
After 2 hours of messing with this, I was about ready to throw the laptop
thru the window. So, does anyone have the voltage setting to correct it
to by using a probe. I probed the red wire and get 1.34 volts no matter
what the butterfly is at. I probe the center white wire and get .27 volts at
the .004 gap on the butterfly. At wide open butterfly it goes up to 1.37 volts.
I am not sure what to think when I am not seeing 1.06 volts at .004 open.
I see .27 volts.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Tom

We are locked out of it and that is why we are a spec class!

Well, after re-reading the posts on this subject again, I noticed
I was turning on the master switch but not the ignition switch! Doh!
It worked perfect after I turned that on. Oh man what a jerk.
Now at .96 and ready for action.
Thanks everyone for the posts on this subject.

Tom,

I am not Windows guru by any means, but are you using Windows XP?

Yes. I have XP on the laptop.
My whole problem was I thought the ECU was talking to the software with
only having to turn on the master switch to the car.
I did not realize I had to flick on the ignition switch also.

Chuck,

The PW protected portions requiring a PIN are areas that allow you to reprogram the ECU, which we aren't allowed to do. I dared ask for the PIN and got a chuckle in response.

Thanks Jeff, that's what I figured would be the answer when I posted the question. It would be nice if they could set up the software so you could read only and use it for diagnostics. Does anyone know of a program that does that?

Just a quick bump in this thread re the serial connector. There is a 2/22/07 update from enterprises w/ a serial adapter to prevent damage to the ECU. As near as I can tell from the circuit diagram, the problems would come from the hardware flow control lines on a full serial cable, but a minimal cable with only Tx/Rx and Gnd (2,3,5 on a 9 pin connector) should be fine. Have I got this right? I want to hook up my data logger w/o burning up the ECU right before a race. Thanks!
