    Default

If I remember correctly, the 831 is a service/replacement motor block, uprated, large main caps and large lifters. It is also fairly desirable in that it has lots of material for over bore; it is the block the FA guys like to start with.
There is a glitch in the continuum...

    Default 831 Block

Pretty sure you have the famed South African "AX" block - As Bob says, they are highly regarded. They are beefier and can handle overbores better. Somewhat rare. I have a friend currently building up one out of the crate. Probably was a service engine. I believe bigger lifter bores, but no guarantees. Definitely a keeper........................

    Default Engine ID

Thanks guys, I was a bit concerned as everything I had seen started 711.... The block now resides in the car awaiting instillation of the head. I will extend every effort to take care of it!
