Nice lap time for sure. What engine is in that car?
Revving a bit higher than an '08 GSX-R1000. Note the bumping off the rev limiter on the straight at 14k RPM.

It's for passing under yellow, I believe.
Congrats Gary - you guys worked your tails off for it!
Starting around 5:50 into the video, the visor cam from Alex's qualifying lap is fantastic.
Nice lap, Alex!
That looks very familiar, and it's not from the GSX-R engine.
You should check your wheel centers. Note the silicone on the threads. I had those on my (3-piece) wheels.
Someone (if not you)...
I am 6' 1 1/2" and for my F1000 I got the XL kit. It includes a 20" x 40" foam sheet for the back and bottom pieces (not sure what the size is of the sheet in the L kit).
I'd recommend the XL kit...
That is fantastic!
Congratulations Alex!
Oh, and apologies for my errors on the tires.
I did say it was a guess. ;)
Absolutely would like to see some in car video, please!
Ah, good question.
While watching the broadcast I tried to take screen shots and zoom in to see, and based upon that here's my best guess:
Mayer ran Avons.
Hickman, Hill, Roggenbuck, Cooper...
Gary, I'm with Russ.
Hitting unseen oil at speed and keeping it on track?
Let's see, the last time that happened to me at Buttonwillow I came back to the pits via the tow truck.
I'm...
Congratulations to Alex Mayer for winning the 2017 SCCA Runoffs in FB!
It was a heck of a race, with Mayer and Hickman in a class by themselves, leaving the rest of the FB field almost 10...
Absolutely good to see Mike back in the mix. Way to go Mr. Beauchamp!
Okay, time for the Q4 update.
Determined to take the pole from Gary Hickman, Alex Mayer goes out in the final...
Q3 Update
Gary Hickman re-claims Pole Position with a blistering 1:34.275 in this afternoon's qualifying session, over 3 seconds clear of the times set by Mayer, Cooper and Hill, who were all...
Agreed.
It's similar to the situation we had at COTA this year - 53 cars in our group was just too many. Was really tough to get a clean lap - placement on track was critical.
You have to bank...
Since nobody has started a thread for this year's Runoffs and I'm not there racing, I guess I will.
Well, it certainly looks like it's intense out at Indy. 18 FBs along with 19 P1 cars makes...
LOL. :ha: :ha:
Sorry Jake, my comment could be misunderstood
You're also a stand up guy, and your word is golden in my book.
Sorry for the confusion on the pad wear. Jake's correct, Wilwood calipers and pads.
I should have qualified the wear information. These were Majors race weekends - for the last 2 seasons I only...
What Gary said.
18 Hours is about right on the engine, and the rebuild cost is also spot-on, but can be up to $4.5k if you replace all the valves and some gears. Note that the gearbox...
Congrats to Kevin Roggenbuck and his team for winning the runoffs - extremely well done, guys!
As for video, unfortunately we got no video from the race. Not sure what happened, but when we went...
Ok, so what happened in the races this weekend? It looks like Saturday was a wash-out (4 laps) but what happened Sunday?
Inquiring minds...
Nicholas is the man, so you're reaching out to the right person for the geartronics.
As for Suzuki wiring harnesses, contact Richard at Rilltech - I believe he has them on the shelf.
I race F1000 and we fought noise issues for years at both Pacific Raceways and Laguna Seca until we implemented the "Three Washers" trick. This took 4 dB off our readings and didn't seem to impact...
Hi Mike - thanks for the invite, but the timing is not good. I am traveling for work that week so there's no chance, unfortunately.
Have a great weekend!
-John
Homeowners insurance covers the stuff while it's in the trailer and stowed at home or even at the track - make sure you have adequate coverage for everything as you may have to increase your...
They also have open wheel run groups out at what used to be Miller. The NASA group there is open wheel friendly. ;-)
As for costs, I have been keeping pretty thorough records for the past 6...
I voted the same way ( C - A - B ) for exactly the same reasons.
I like the fact that they are asking for our input.
Okay, so $.02 from a driver/owner, not a manufacturer.
I spent a LOT of time and money, and also time on my own body, working to get down to the minimum weight. It's not the classes fault that I...
Wow - I fly to the UK for work, land and log onto Apex and see this. Holy smokes....what happened to the 42mm restrictors that were tested? I thought the goal was to cap the speed, not slow us...
Sorry Wren, I didn't make myself clear, forgive me. :o
By the way I am one of those people who rotates through used tires on the weekend. I always run used tires for the practice day and...
Hey, the guys who finished ahead of me didn't do anything other than out-drive me, plain and simple.
Thomas you are correct - nothing's broken, per se, but things could be slightly refined.
I...
We use the GSX-R1000 and get anywhere from 18-20 hours of run time between rebuilds - anything longer is rolling the dice.
I also self police and shift below 12,300 RPM. This coupled with...
I might as well throw in my $.02.
I agree with Gary - nobody that I know of thought there was anything funny going on with engines. We had two spare engines in the trailer too, but those were in...
Just get it recharged - I had mine recharged last year and it was much less than a new bottle.
The folks at Safecraft can help you:

And yes, just bustin' yer chops, my friend! :):thumbsup:
Flagger?!?! There was a flagger?!?!
Man, you have good eyes! :D
IMO 11K seems a bit aggressive, but it's your engine. I used less than that - closer to 8500 RPM, and never had an issue afterwards.
It's all about how you let the clutch out - you have to slip...
Totally agree with Jason.
You can't go faster for less money, and the cars are a hoot to drive. There's going to be a couple new cars out west later this year (Jose in the Galmer and Larry in his...
Now that's perfect, Russ! Too funny! LOL :beer:
Too funny, Mike. Glad to see my expertise in plan view for all.
I missed the braking point in my (lame) effort to make up time, and after collecting the car due to nearly losing it from...
Way to go JR! You are a class act and it's great to see you win it all in spite of everything you went through this year.
Congrats to you, Teddy and Nicholas for a hell of an effort.
BRAVO!!...
Hey Bill, I agree with you - the left side is definitely not preferred, but I had a seriously good run on him exiting 2 although now I know I should have backed off in spite of how good it was.
...
I feel sorry for Remington, Ross, Larry and myself, as we all had contact with the FMs. Not sure about Ross and Remington's ordeals, but I know Larry and I both got tagged by FMs who just weren't...
You are amazing. Beautiful work!
Oh my.
First, Jason, I hope you are okay - you took two hard hits there and I noticed you rubbing your back while exiting the car. I hope the first one didn't hurt your hands or wrists, either. ...
We're picking up our new Phoenix F1K12 next week and it is awesome! Just incredible fit & finish (that's gelcoat, not paint). Nicholas was spot-on in his assessment. These guys have really sweated...
Hey guys.
As usual, Mr. Latham is spot-on. Bummer to hear that Lucian is out, though. Perhaps he will surprise us and come back to play...
We're looking to run the entire USF1000 West Coast...
Agreed - the body work on the car is just phenomenal. I mean, it's practically perfect.
When you can make gel coat turn out this nice, who needs paint? :)
When I saw this head surround in the shop, I immediately pictured the Red Bull F1 chassis - this piece of equipment looks exactly like the ones they use.
As Ringo says, "It don't come easy."...
So I thought I would take a look at apex to see what was up and there's my car!
Gary, Tony and Dustin have all done an incredible job with the new car and I am very excited to be getting chassis...
