That is the correct way to mount the starter. Due to the routing of the exhaust it is the only way to mount it.

The engine will come out without unhooking the transmission. Take out the drysump tank and the throttle cable pulley system. Unhook the electrics and it will slide forward just far enough to clear...
Currently 12 of the group 1 entries are FST's. Not sure about the rest.
There are very few if any spectator races held by SCCA any more for insurance reasons I am sure. However I have never seen anyone turned away at the gate as long as they were willing to sign all the...
Now there are 15 for Friday. See you all bright and early:D
What started as a request for information is now a comparison between the two classes?
What do lap times in the rain at the Glen have to do with steering racks in FV.
Seems like every time someone...
My money's on Matt Seim.
Having survived Road America I am in.
What a long week, 1803 miles, two race weekends, and an engine change with lots of great racing thrown in for good measure.
Saturday started off wet with spotty showers at just the wrong time. I...
To the RGU team and Matt Gordon for all the help this past weekend. Without these guys my weekend would have been a lot shorter.

This device works so well that the tech people thought I put a new beam on. They could not tell the difference.
Thanks to all who helped out.

And not a single word about the back of the car.
I just want to be able to run any or all of the events that are held in my area. I have a limited budget and the further I travel cuts into how many events I can get to in a single season.
With all this enthusiasm how can I stay away?:D
Unfortunately those kinds of cars are not within my available racing budget. But I still enjoy watching them anyway.
Dave
Looks like a Brabham BT-40 to me.
Always had a thing for that era FB's and SV's.

The only dumb question is the one you don't ask.
My tank is 21 inches tall and 3.5 x 5. I use 6 quarts
Dave
You can bet I will give my input. Not only does this have an effect of bringing the two classes closer, I have a serious interest in building a dual purpose car that can run in both classes.
Dave
I would like to see a break down of your costing. I have been racing FST for 8 years and have had to replace several of them and that sounds a wee bit high.
Dave
Robert is correct. I did have a sensor screwed into the head where there is a boss near the exhaust port on top of the head directly rearward of the intake manifold. I got readings between 550-575...

Nope. I have to work Friday and Saturday nights as well as Sunday.
Maybe a helicopter would work.
I'm Out.
Work is getting in the way.
After being slow for 8 months it's back to 6-7 day work weeks.
The timing stinks.
D.
Okay I'm in.

Apparently there really are 10-12k Vee motors.
You may wish to reconsider that. The front shocks on a stock BJ beam do not have an upper eye. There is a simple outboard shock setup that will allow use of what everyone already has.
Sarcasm, most certainly.;)
I have done this in a private test a couple of years ago at Gingerman. I used a set of R35 take offs from a FF. I was able to cut 2.2 seconds off my best time and I only ran one session with them....
So far this conversation has been far more civilized than I expected and I would love to be able to race at events like the June Sprints or the Runoffs. In that respect I would welcome the inclusion...
I'm in.

If you can move the firewall to the front side of the roll bar structure you will gain an inch or two.
Dave
I stayed in a tent at Nelson 3-4 years ago. Primitive very much so. Bring mosquito repellent.
D
So THAT'S how you go round the Glen ;).
If you are browsing the registration list you may notice I am no longer registered in my #8. I will still be going, I'm driving the #25.
Registered.
Now that I am pretty sure that I will have an engine that runs. I'm in.
Thanks Bill.
Very cool video guys. Of course I would prefer to be in the front veiw.:D I did learn about 6 different things from watching including why I am still 1.5 sec. slower than Rob. Where do you get the...

I feel a little behind since I just finished bolting the engine in the car a few minutes ago. It's going to be a loooong week.
I'm in.
Mark,
The 3rd picture shows the shows the entire open wheel group on track. One FST and one Vee.
Jonathan did a great job on track and off.
Dave
I will go to all the points races, but I won't have enough vacation time left to go to Atlanta.
Dave
Goes out to the RGU Team of Robert,Doug,Matt, and Randy for always being there when disaster strikes. Time and time again they always come to the rescue when things turn bad.
You guys are the...
Congrats to Rob and Reece.
Rob was the class of the field all weekend.
Reece did a great job and caught Rob napping toward the end.
I had the best start ever and lead for the first half...
As I am hooking up the trailer for my 12 hour tow, I can't say I'll be jumping up and down at the chance to race with FC's.
Since I've been an assistant race chair in the past I do understand...
Looks like 7 of us unless someone jumps in at the last second. Don't wait the late fee is $150.

I think he's been in the Scotch again :D.
