Try Coleman racing,,, don't be afraid when you see all the roundy round stuff they have rotors or can make them among other items you may need.
...
Mark, yes it was based on the Novakar J9 chassis/body but with wider 13" wheels. They tried an 850 cc two stroke (a virtually bolt in from what iI recall) but the stock location of the rad naca...
We have the tooling, it needs a little work but is usable.
Dave
http://http://www.preformresources.com/NovaKar/DSR-07.jpgHere is a project we did several (10) years ago with J Novak for a Novakar DSR body on an Early chassis it was abandoned because of cooiing...
Greg, you will have a great time racing at WHRRI they get a decent field of F5/6 cars, the track is small but demanding, the facilities are nice , the people are great historically drivers that did...
less than $259. ?? thats pretty good!!
Dave
Well we haven't built a body for a while, but I didn't think the Novakar required side protection because of the side pod crush space, so is this just up at the cockpit level ?
or else where ? I'd...
Jordan, your question is one that I ihave wondered about fro years, why has the SCCA and or rulesmakers required steel axles when good, well done aluminum axles have been used in Mini Sprints and...
Congrats to Steve for a good race and to Brian Brothers (second) in their TR1s
and to you too Ted,( Ted Johnston) for the great prep work !!
Dave
I believe the nose is a 40F.
So what happened at the ARRC ?? no reports ? lack of interest?
Dave
Wow ! congrats Cal, a great award for a great guy !!
Dave
WOW, it seems like the venue (Daytona ) has created a lot of monsters!!
I'm thinking that the best use of the fairing would be if you were taking engine air from behind the drivers head, since they were taking air from an outboard air scoop and there is no way to cleanly...
Wayne, I think you just answered your own question.
Dave
I can't believe this wasn't allowed YEARS ago, anything that can be taken from a popular car class that is better and less expensive seems like a no brainer to me, particularly in view that thousands...
Thanks Greg, yes that is the second car Tom built, looking closer at the pics of the first car I remember those front hubs and the pedals unless they have been changed, came out of Tom's Lotus 18 FJR...
I think it is a MONARCH, built by Tom Monarch in Michigan back in the late 60s early 70S the first car was an FC car with a cosworth 105 E engine, not sure about the gearbox , he went on to build ...
Jim, does you engine sit up that high ,or is it to clear the intake stacks?
Dave
Eric (quarts racer) nailed it , you package a race car first to the rules, then as clean aerodynamically as you can given any rules restrictions, and then to it's appearance
as far as the former ...
Pretty cool,,, it's a clean slate,,, it's going to be interesting !!
Dave
Jay you have truly outdone yourselves on this project, I know you and Dave Piontek have been coharts for many years and have done many projects together, some I even had a hand in, but you have put...
Gee, I dunno, these cars don't look too bad...
Dave Craddock
Having done a lot of projects over the years, I fully understand the amount of work etc. involved with an all new body development,,, and you guys have SIGNIFICANTLY cleaned up th e former design,,,...
I agree with Kevin on the VD chassis issue, these cars need more development,
that is all, unfortunately it is aero development,,,,and that is not cheap!!
Dave Craddock
Looks like the Novaks cleared up some of their problems from Grattan,Brian taking two wins in the PIPER !
Dave Craddock
Those are JEDI cars with honda power there were a few racing at Waterford Hills with bigger engines. They are like a 60's 70's formula ford only smaller , lot of Mini components hubs axles bearings...
Hey Jimbo, what class would this car fit in,in autocross ?
Dave Craddock
How does/would this ruling apply to Arron Ellis side pod design ?? would it be that the clearance is constant with the circumfrence of the tire?
Dave Craddock
Nicky, as Chris noted , the SCCA allows (actually reccomends is the phrase they use in the gcr) sports car noses probably for safety mostly, but they are actually more aero dynamic than pointy noses...
BTW; the Jedi wheelbase is 85" coincidentally.
Dave craddock
The classic Novak design, clean and uncomplicated, strong and safe, roomy enough
for fairly large drivers!
Dave Craddock
Heard from Mike Devins about coop's emergency tail..........nuthin like a little emergency tail to make you a winner! congrats coop, jay, mike.
Dave Craddock
Lest we forget the f-500 guys have live rear axles and Brian Novak among others have consistently gone faster than the formula fords and no Penske shocks either,Jay seems to have worked out most of...
What about the idea posted earlier of limiting engines to a certain minimum number of sales in the U.S..this proposal smacks of Penske and the Indy 500 a few years back.I can't imagine with world...
http://preformresources.com/albums/NOVAKARS/05_winner.jpgJay Novak designed and built the 07 formula 500 national champion car driven by his son Brian, the top f-5 cars are running as fast or faster...
Outlawzz,I'm curious as to whether you will retain the live axle? this would be interesting as Jay Novak has shown with the Novakar a live axle minimally suspended car can fly!
Dave Craddock
Talked to Mike yesterday and he said the coop was a big help in the kitchen, kinda our culinary/literary wunderkind!
Dave Craddock
CHICKEN COOP ???? DARE I ASK?
Dave Craddock
Yeah ,this has been good advice, epoxy systems with any reinforcement give superior physical properties compared to poly or vinyl ester systems, they cost more but the end result is worth it. vacuum...
The terminology would be a"live hub vs a stub axle/spindle like the trimph spitfire or mustang 2 with wheel bearings. The live hub offers larger bearings and the use of a larger axle/hub and stand...
Glad you took delivery, looks great,I'm sure you must be excited about racing it! good luck
:greenflag:
Dave Craddock
Scott, keep in mind you are sitting in an aluminum double walled tub and the side pods are rather tall compared to a typical Van Dieman giving you a lot of crush area in a side impact.and I'm sure a...
Russ, did you try removig some paint from the body inside, kevlar should still come up yellowish in the laminate.
Dave Craddock
Russ,I believe that is how the Stohr paddle shift works, two cables attached to the paddles run back to the gearbox.
Dave Craddock
Matt, the car looks super, nice and clean design.
Dave Craddock
That's great news Matt, best of luck in the coming season!
Dave Craddock
