Wonder if this will necessitate a name change? Just struck me as "funny".....Thunderhill gone solar.....how west coast is that? Thunderhill without noise? Somehow just won't seem right . ...
SCCA should get up with SAE and review their work in this area, been at it for several years.......Safety is the huge issue, followed by cost. Of course electric race cars aren't new. I recall...
SCCA didn't have issue car logbooks prior to 72. My Spitfire is 54-001, from NeOkla Region. Funny thing was they also issued driver's logbooks about the same time, keep up with "bad actors" as...
Gulf Coast region is region 12.....up near Pensacola. Region 19 is Cal Club, way out west.

When I was young and serious HP racer, we had to run 5" rims on the H car, G Sprites could use 5.5, and F Sprites 6.0. Very few 5" x 13 with 4 on 4, race mags available, none cheap....... ...
My GP Spit uses 13x6, same on FP rims... 3 3/4" bc....should be plenty of those around. Ones in photo looked like older American Mags...
Hope you can source the rim halves wanted, if not...
If you go to proper donuts, check with dogrings.com for his keepers... not cheap, but period correct and worthwhile addition.

Just saw this.... know manifolds are pretty rare, as are carbs....so, passing link along. Was posted in Feb/may be gone by now....

On my Spitfire caps, I brazed a 10/32 nut to cap, with hole below...then put a rubber vac. cap in hole when racing...used a screw to remove later (jack against spindle end). Guess you could use a...
Water pumper or air cooled? Harder and harder to find water pumper go fast stuff for 1600's; start with Scot L, above. Also, had good luck with Techtonics on west coast for stuff like bearings,...
If you played football, imagine you could be on the bigger size.... go to track/races and ask to "try-on" cars like you want....some are much smaller than others...older V's are usually...

Seems like rather a futile effort.... lots of work/cost, with little returns.... IF you want to get lic. stuff done, just run as is, While looking for something different to work from....many out...
I looked at results....no huge fields, appears no Vee's from left coast, so original poster may not have gone. Check results on race monitor (SCCA Majors at COTA) to see what's there.... as to...
Also from days of standing starts, and winding "real" race engines tight....10K up.. narrow power band...

Brings back memories, even racing in snow in StL. long/long ago...V's couldn't climb the hill to SF..... Runoffs at Atl, when cokes froze in bottles (yup, bottles) Late Nov....
Big points to...
Misplaced my "saved" gas cap during yr+ restoration. Figured another would be a simple find at auto parts stores, not. 60mm neck, with outside tang like radiator cap, not internal like older gas...
Appeared to be 50ES-20 or 19. Those have a round cross pin near bottom....Bellville/flat spring washers under head. More common camlocs (think 26 and 40 series) seen on race cars (Pegagus/others)...
Figured I'd post an update.
Seems my starter was from BMW air head motorcycles, with 9 T. The spare (18915N) I found in trailer, which didn't engage, had issue with the clutch... Got another,...
Thanks to all. Have a super local starter dude, so headed there....if needed.
Meanwhile... found 2 "std" VW starters, one automatic, all worked and rotated right way...was able to bolt factory...
Got to go check rotation on that "spare/new" starter (18915N)....perhaps it rotated wrong direction for bendix to work when I installed/tried and it failed to engage flywheel....duh. Easy to get...
Trying to source/sort out starter on my 83 Ralt RT5. Hewland mk 9. Starter on car is a Bosch 0 001 157 023, with an alum adapter to bellhousing (right side of engine). Best I can count has 9 T. ...
S/F camera angle/sun much better today, during quali...no ghosts. Full course coverage during last chance races, was even better....could read the numbers....now, if I can just get live results to...
Agree times imply some really good racing to be had....if not seen.
Sure hope video gets better. S/F suffered from sun coming thru stands in afternoon...made 12-14 spots on display..later blanked...
Just passing along note received...

Believe you'd have to update safety features to make "old/vintage" cars acceptable. Likely, SV's are best with vintage groups if you want to keep in original configuration...much like older Fords in...
Just stumbled across this posting on Craig's list.... figure worth passing along. Said SV, looks like would work for D9.
...
Have a cam from SV engine...Older build/not run...supposedly a Engine Developments build (Brabham/Judd). Has stamping in end: SV B34 "B" led me to think a Brabham grind... isn't a 3 or 8....
...
When they did my Mk9 a few years ago, Paul recommended using Joe Gibbs MTL oil/fluid....think that isn't available anymore, but Gibbs offers a synthetic alternative.... Also, believe Royal Purple has...
Boy, does that look and sound familiar! I bought a 83 RT5 a couple of years ago...bit earlier than yours, complete car with a "fresh" Engine Development injected engine (30 years ago)..... Thought...
assume it's 1:1 in 4th....doing the turns in 4th, should give the ring gear ratio...then do same in all the other gears and figure the ratios backwards using that final ratio in the calcs. to get...
Sorry to hear that about Eagle. Another good source gone.... like losing Pat Prince...
Another supplier, I haven't used, is Pyrotect.

Those prices are plenty stout. Had hoped that Premier would be more in line.
I had Harmon do a cell, no can, to duplicate one in my RT5 last year. Think I spent around $1200 USD for full FIA...
check Premier Cells in UK for new one. They do good/FIA work. Much closer to you than ATL...

edit...be sure to tell them what fuel you'll be...
Transferring bolt pattern as above is fine, however most important to get centerline of crank right...same for alignment sleeves/pins.
Don't assume.....think/plan it out, confirm, before cutting...
Terry is still in StL. doing dental work as always (including Mark Weber). He and his dad (Bill) were big hockey folks..Terry's son went pro as goalie, for Florida NHL team, a while back...not sure...
Dorsey + Terry Mckenna (4-5X nat'l champ), ran it back in time. Harry was a good ol' guy.
Okie.
Reminds me of my March SV...redid engine, took to race...chased oil on engine every session..redid all I could on rocker cover, cam seal, etc. at race... finally had a tire go down, so decided I'd...
That link looked interesting.....quick look at catalog...nothing under 18"! Do you know if they go smaller, like 13"?
I could use some halves for Gotti rims on my Tiga S2....last came from them...
My Spitfire has the first logbook issued by NeOkla.... 54-001. Ken Lawrence was the owner, then. Okie
Don't know about numbers you have.
However, SCCA didn't start issuing logbooks (formally, across the club) until 1972. The numbers began with the issuing region #, a dash, then the sequential...
Bill Hutton up in Tenn. used to do a lot of these engines... not sure if he's still active...google, Hutton+Coventry Climax, Hutton Motor Engineering...

One of my first races at War Bonnet in late 60's, a guy showed up with a DSR that had complete body in clear acrylic... neat to watch him work.. Made the Tulsa World coverage of the racing (another...
Many have since been updated with CF hoops and braces. Those are usually much stiffer, don't flex like before. If looking; check to see that loads from hoops/supports are carried to lower rails, as...
Yup...missed that in first read, sorry.

Making a mold first? Don't need epoxy or cloth for that. Best suggestion is to find local fiberglass fabricator and have them do the mold and a test splash. Years ago, I bought a Lotus 11 body...
Don't know about Titan and Rhino, but my 80 March SV had similar issue. Had to trim several spots to get Rhino box to fit...seems no worse for the modifications...
