Great information. Thank you!
I was at a vintage race this weekend and my steering box failed. A new TRW unit was put in. However, the box is very stiff. Compared to a teammate's car mine needs considerable force while the other...
Another question about period body/chassis as manufactured pre 72. When did raising the beam on Lynx begin? It is easy to identify as the steering box must then have a fairing around it after...
Richard, for me it appears that the turn of the car was in response to the curbing. My GUESS is Dennis tried to get off the curb and the short tow rope and speed of the tow caught him out. It'll be...
Can anyone recall when the Caldwell like tail was first introduced for the Zink C4? It's the one with multiple horizontal vents at the rear of the cover.. CVAR is touchy about body configurations....
Thanks Dietmar. Sorry I wasn't more clear with my post Steve.
I'm trying to go to a 3 leaf front spring. I'm looking for advice on how to use the center grub screw and not separate the leafs when tightening the screw. Do I re-contour the screw or the leafs? Use...
It occurred to me that we were thinking about organizations that currently hold races at multiple tracks. However, Hallett runs a series called COMMA and has a multiple race schedule. I'm wondering...
If Blackhawk is chosen I think you'd see a pretty big contingent from Texas. There were 10 of us (CVAR) up there the last two years in June at the Classic. So the 55th would probably bring at least 5...
The body and the rear shock mount resemble a Crusader. This is a bad pic but all I could find right now.

I have been looking around for pictures of the last z bar design before they were converted to zero roll. I recalled seeing one in conjunction with a "what is it" post but can't find it. It looked...
Despite some negativity here, Burtis finished THIRD in 1968.

I have a vintage Zink that I purchased from an estate several years ago. Unfortunately it came with no log books. When it was listed a number of comments including the one below by TPPJ indicated an...
The 340 was advertised as having a "fifth spring".
OMG! I gotta see one of these!
Thanks Greg
I run a Zink FV. I have 100 lb rear springs. Is there a way to calculate the additional spring rate of the 11/16 Z bar? Thanks
Both bushings on the damper are 10mm. The upper and lower mounts are 12mm. If I drill out the metal bushing liner to fit it looks like it might tear loose of the rubber bushing. Assuming that the...
Thanks Daryl and Chris. Don't know if I'm bold enough to do the bending but I may eventually have to do so if legal. The Monoposto rules say "A. No component of the engine, power train, front...
Good assumption re CVAR Daryl. I'm new to FV so I was looking at an easier way to make quick adjustments to see what happens with each. Some local cars have re-curved spring packs. Apparently the...
Thanks Glenn. Just a shot at making it easier to adjust height. If early enough I was going to petition my local group. But it's nowhere close.
Does anyone know when the first of the beam mounted ride height adjusters first started appearing on vees? Thanks
Thanks Steve. The best answer I could hope for. I don't have to buy a new bar! Locals suggest an inch and a half pre-load from just loose links. Sound about right to start with? Then chase the tail...
I purchased a Zink C4 last summer. I've asked a lot of questions and gotten a lot of great feedback. After disassembly I have been gradually replacing or renewing parts and slowly reassembling. I'm...
No pics as manifold already at FV prep shop who has done this before. Shipped it as soon as Brian replied and I checked with the shop. Brian, any pic or diagram on brace?
Thanks all for your...
Thanks Brian - appreciate it.
I was using Evaporust to remove accumulated rust in the interior of the manifold. I noticed a leak in the tube just above the flange that attaches to the cylinder head. Further inspection revealed a...
Thanks for all the answers. It seems a consensus that some sort of cushion is important. Locally it appears that 2 degree droop is fairly common. I have a starting spot for both droop and the cushion...
Two questions.
What is the camber you shoot for at full droop?
Looking at the pictures for cars shown in the For Sale listings it looks like it is evenly divided between cars that have a...

Can anyone put me in touch with Garrett van Camp, the 1971 FV Nat'l Champ from Michigan? I believe he is active with VSCDA.
Thanks
Understood but he was definitely thinking outside the box.
Hope this hyperlink works. This may have been posted before but what an imagination.

Before one begins litigation versus the SCCA they should be aware of the following language in the GCR.
Section 1 Controlling Competition
Paragraph 1.2.3
The interpretation and application...
Could someone who has the plans for the FV lift advise what wall thickness is used for the tubes?
Thanks
Thank you very much Dietmar. All information greatly appreciated.
Thanks Brian and Steve. I don't know if we're thinking about the same brass float. I've seen a brass sphere used. Steve, I have no misconceptions. The engine and its ancillaries in my car will always...
Thanks Mike. I'll have to think about Dietmar when I have these types of questions.
I've seen brass round floats used instead of the standard float. Where can I purchase them or do I have to find a brass monkey and turn on the charm?
I've seen Lynx B and Caldwell D13 changed to zero roll from their original design. What would be the level of difficulty changing them back for vintage rules? Is there some chassis welding to replace...
Thank you very much for the information. I'm seriously looking at FV to get back into racing. I drove a Vee in a couple of Nationals at TWS back in the early 2000's. Really liked it then.
What are the differences between the Protoform P2 and P3. The same question with the Mysterian M2 and M3. Thanks
It's the driver's responsibility to identify flagging stations. They had flags displayed on the first lap of every session. No problem seeing them. The 85 car spec wrecker class went green the whole...
Designed by the same guy who built a composite chassis with different aero for S2 a bunch of years ago - Clarinval. The club didn't homologate it and the article stated that he had a lot of money...
Jay,
Thanks for the update. Since you don't produce anything but top flight stuff, it is worth the wait.
Jay is your F600 in production? I believe you previously commented that you had orders for 4? But that was quite awhile ago.
You guys have to go to Cota in March. It is absolutely the best track I have ever seen. To have a SCCA club race there is beyond belief. I've been at Silverstone and this puts it to shame.
Not too bad lb per hp. How does it compare to the 2 strokes with their weight?
Thanks
What is the horsepower of a 600cc engine with a 32 mm restrictor?
Preferrably with shocks and longer wheelbase. That's it.
