Very cool, I actually picked up my tub for the sim in your neck of the woods. Give me a shout if you decide to build a sim I have already worked out some of the problems and created 3d printed parts...
Here is a run in VR with a RL cockpit view in the corner if anyone is interested. PS the motion system does a real good job of translating road vibration and bumps as you can prob see form the camera...
its really just the back and part of the seat cushion, seat frame etc has been removed so not to add height to the seating position. my but is maybe an inch off the tub floor when seated
Yeah trying to mirror the PFM controls, there are paddles on the wheel but since my PFM does not have them I prefer to use the sequential also using a MOMO 27c for the wheel.
its been an interesting road for me towards building a F1 Simulator. a while back when looking for a donor I found a PFM at a good price in running condition and decided to to part it out an keep the...
I usually do about 1.5 haven't really been picky on what 2t oil I use, I think most racers go closer to 1 as less oil prob means slightly more combustion and power but it will also wear the engine...
This is what I have been using, it does the job but doesnt get great reviews so Prob wont go with the same brand again.

even a fresh batter struggles with the car cold, If memory serves one of the manuals said to always use boost and reserve the battery for if you need to restart it on track, its small and does not...
Like Mikey said, booster battery when starting it cold is key, that's why it has the external battery connector, also only hit the starter after the fuel pump has done its thing and I give it a bit...
Thank you, for some reason I had a mental block and didn't see the master bolt list but have it now
Thank you
1. what torque setting do you guys use on the PFM wheel nuts?
2. what tire pressure do you usually start off with (cold) and what is your target for (warm)?
Not sure if you paid attention to my rant :) but the PFM was actually the 4th car I drove on the track that day and I Intend to drive more in those as well, it has been stated and quite true that...
Usually when I'm up shifting its because I believe I have maxed out that gear and so I'm "flooring the throttle" but as you said I'm a beginner so I'm sure I often misread the rpm sound and shift...
Interesting, I though the ECU on these cars blocked downshifts above certain rpms and did not require Clutch. sounds like you prefer to clutch and maintain rpms just under that limit by keeping...
good advice Ill likely need to get a new seat molded, any preferred products you use for that?
ps: what is a blip?
I made it to a track, mostly uneventful aside from loosing a mirror to an aggressive traffic cone and spinning out on a downshift :)
Still so much to learn about driving, maintenance and last but...
Just summing this up

When I bought the car I didnt particularly pay attention to the previous owner when he was walking me through the controls partly because I was to excited but also cause I didnt really think I was...
excellent thank you
that's a great idea, where do you but them under the car? are the places to avoid putting them under?
What kind of stand do you guys use for the PFM's, where does it rest on the stand and how do you hoist it up?
Ps: started it up for the first time since purchase, pretty exciting :)...

Looks like you are spot on, I cleaned up the rings on both sides end inspected closely and yes tack welded is how they are attached. Thank you!
very cool, I may check that out but for now my plans are more towards a track day toy rather than racing.
Thank you that is very helpful, and yes this is the internet so not expecting any guarantees just opinions from others with more experience, specifically if this should be friction held (tapped in...
You may know that Im an impulsive idiot that recently bought a PFM, It turns out Im also a lucky idiot as I have also met a former Formula driver (Ford) that is going to help me get up and running in...
I found the Huttu YouTube vid
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yJBXcxRTZY
That must have been really rough on the poor kid, I moved to Atlanta from Iceland a few years before that, one of my...
Despite the Road Atlanta story above and others similar I found on YouTube today when trying to find that story, Sims probably aren't an accurate representation, at least not always but I will say...
Thank you, Ill take a look at those. Might just be a reason for me to go back to the Emirates :)
that's good feedback, do you by chance know of any open wheel racing schools?
There are also private track clubs around, the price is hard to justify for a couple of test runs though. would prob have to drive it regularly for a full season to justify the cost but its a...
thank you for your wisdom Mike
If that story is to be believed then practice in a sim will make you competent in the car it just wont help you get physically in shape. would love to find a video of that I'm sure its pretty funny.
That's good advice, I have a couple of follow up questions if thats cool.
1. Do you know of any open wheel racing schools?
2. Although its decreasingly likely that ill buy the car, In case my...
No I get that point but I think you and others may also be missing the point that I'm not trying to maximize seat time or become a race car driver I want to "try" something as close to a F1 as...
no I have about 0 interest in that sport on or off the field but I would jump pretty much into any race car if given the chance because I am curious about that. would you not?
lol, its not that he isn't reading them, he does and really values the answer to his questions.
What you are talking about isn't answers to any of the questions posted these are additional...
very nice, that's part of the fun right?
Im not really looking to "Race" anyone but myself even in the sim I tend to do more time trial than races. I just enjoy the activity I did Motcross and Trails for years and newer really got good at...
very cool thank you
Thanks guys,
If I do buy it what are the things I should check on the car?
Hi Guy's and Gal's
I have been lurking the classifieds here for a little while lookin for a Formula donor to convert into a motion simulator, and although I have yet to find one I recently came...
