The top gear second gear from the end looks like it may be wearing thru the surface hardness on the tooth that is at about 12 o'clock . That could be the source of the fuzzy stuff on your magnet.

I believe they have been homologated for FA.
Good chance I may be racing this year..Who doesn't want to go to Indy??
Yep...You are going to love COTA...More technical than I thought it would be. 1st gear is used 3 times..eek! and the brake doesn't get touched from turn 1 to turn 11. Also, bring your big boy pants...
sit pretty close to what?
Make certain that your head and shoulders are protected by the supports coming down from the roll bar. You can move the controls towards you but you should be back far...
take the fuel line off at the carb.
place it into a quart jar.
should fill the jar up in less than a minute
observe the stream..should be solid fuel
check the fuel flow rate...SHould be a minimum of 1 quart/min from the down stream side of the fuel regulator. Make certain the flow stream is solid and not arated.
Has the car every ran since you have owned it or was this the first outing?
Did you do any work on the car recently?
It sounds like a self induced issue...main jets not on the emulsion tube, rag...
You are a funny guy...
We prefer "classic look" to "pig ugly"
Aaron,
You are a troll......
Go post on the FE forum and talk about issues surrounding that tub....
What Bruce and Robert are bringing to the surface are issues because of single sourcing. FM has never had a spec tire in SCCA competition and we have always been free to source tires from anyone. I...
Actually,
From the movie "Knight Tales"...Just love the word
But a worthy Champion
You are mean person
This is not a Hoosier vs GY debate...Even if a Hoosier is picked as the spec tire, I still will not be happy about the decision.
Learning how to test and develop a race car is a necessary skill...
"Hoosier's are crap"...Those are fighting words.
Mike, We need to settle this Texas style. You on Goodyears and me on Hoosiers...Ten laps, ten beers(we always include beer)..first one to finish ten...
I am adamantly opposed to a spec tire because I see NO reason for it.
I enjoy the option of trying different tire companies, different compounds and even different sizes to search for an...
My car is a '98 model and I have never replaced the A-arms...worried? Yep. We purchased 2 complete sets of the upgraded arms for both of our team cars. You cannot judge when metal fatigue will cause...
Congratulations to Mike Anderson(first win), Allen McCallum(third podium) and Stuart Rettie(first podium) for the FM podium at the Runoffs. Everyone having to negotiate through the slow end of the FE...
How they nailed me for sound is mystery to us. Thursday I was at 101 db and then Saturday I am at 104.8....with the same equipment. I even started leaving the car in fourth when they hit me on the...
You'll get the horns :)
Glad to hear from two new FM owners. Most classes in SCCA ebb and flow on their participation numbers. FM is in a down turn at the moment but should see increase in numbers if history is repeated....
Steve, enjoy your new car. Come by the trailer at the Runoffs and visit. Feel free to bring a notebook and ask us any questions..setup, maintenance or whatever.
That invitation extends to...
Went thru the same thing on one of our cars. Take the upright supports and lay them on top of each other to be sure the bolt holes and brackets are identical. We have to pair up brackets to get the...
The OMP is absolutely required in FM. Drummond has told me that he has almost no parts to rebuild the pump and has recommended to the CRB to allow us to delete the item. I agree that running premix...
I use Mobil1 15/50 or 10/30. It depends on what we have in the shop at the time.
Daryl Drummond told me that Mobil1 is the second best oil to use in our engines. He sells a Japanese oil that was...
David,
Sounds like you are lucky to be driving at all. Thanks for the feedback..Your reason for not racing your FM stands by itself...Love the mods though...Maybe that is a direction to take the...
I going to give about a 30% success rate on split starts from my experience. What usually happens is that the fast cars of the class in the split(the slower class) catches the slow drivers of the...
It has been a while since I had that much fun in a race. We were 10/10ths the whole time. The new Hoosier A2500 tire won both days on it's debut Major's weekend. The FM qualifying times were under...
I am finally getting my motor freshened up. It still runs strong but is using a lot of oil per session. I could easily run this thing the rest of the season but don't have to.
Put in service...
How is the driver doing? I saw the whole wreck and he also got slammed by a FA from behind while stationary. I saw him getting out of the car having trouble walking and holding his lower back. It was...
Agitator,
Come by our pits at Road Atlanta this weekend and I would be glad to answer any questions you have on the FM.
That invitation is open to anyone...Just after debating the pros and cons...
Record the serial number and call Darryl. He can give you the history of the motor and verify that it is one of his.
As more data accumulates and other drivers calling me direct I am starting to get an idea of why folks are leaving, have left or decided against joining the class.
Please keep'em coming. I will...
The lower outer heims are the most common ones that fail. I get about 10 race weekends out of those and about 20 out of the rest of them. The front upper heim generally gets replaced when I detect...
But that is a loonnngggg way for you guys to haul. CYA there.
Good question...We found this out by mistake. I asked Hoosier why did the tire exhibit so much more side bite mid turn with the tires laid in and they mention something about the A2500 being a hybrid...
Thanks for the feedback and keep'em coming. We can only formulate solutions after the issue is fully understood. This understanding is most easily obtained through compiling data and analysis. I am...
I have noticed a drop in participation in the class in the last few years. I am posting a poll to see if any data can extracted to help explain this trend and possibly reverse it. Our team has looked...
This is going to a great event...They have divided the wings and things up with FC, FE and FM in their own run group. This is terrific news. If you are on the fence about this event then...
One real side benefit of going to aftermarket ECUs like MOTEC is simplicity. The MOTEC only needs 3 inputs and is easy to troubleshoot...Stock systems are a nightmare. No horse in this race but I...
The Hoosier front tires are taller than the GYs and the Hoosier 22.0 are shorter than the GYs but the Hoosier 22.5 are almost identical to the GYs. Set your ride heights accordingly..
Furthermore,...
Each Major event and National Championship
The National Championship winning Hoosiers are ready to ship. I have listed the model numbers and sizes of the new constructed tires. Setup changes from the Goodyear tires for us are as follows:...
SCCA rules only allow BBS wheels that were made specifically for FM.
There is a good looking set of FM wheels on ebay for sale. These are not legal to use for SCCA or FCC competition. If you buy them then those will be limited to track day use only.
Pull the small wire off the back of the alternator and see if your car shuts off with the dash switch. If it does then the diode pack is no good. You can either replace the alternator or place a...
Ted,
Are you referring to the camber sleeve that the heim threads into? If so, then the a-arm housing has been smashed 1/64". The best fix is to remove the sleeve and reduce the length of the sleeve...
Those pesky lock nuts do come loose. Make sure that ALL of the powder coat has been filed away from the mating surface of the nut. Caution to everyone about the front jam nut...You can over tighten...
The Aurora PRM series and the FK PMX series have the same load ratings and material composition...So I would suggest either. Roush Yates racing is selling the FK rod ends for $43 each for the 1/2...
