Tough to find a nicer group than Brian, Mark, and Cindy. Congratulations!
Dietmar,
That is pretty much what I have now. If I’m at a dead end, I could just trim the clutch pedal since it is bigger than it needs to be. I was hoping that maybe there was a simple solution...
Thanks, Dietmar.
I have a stock coupler but was trying to put something together that takes up less space, doesn’t get in the way of the clutch pedal, drivers feet, etc..
Matt
Does anyone know the correct size and number of splines on the output shaft of the TRW steering box or know the correct Borgeson joint part number that would fit?
Thanks,
Matt
Absolutely. Brian and his father, Mark, are good people....and fast!
Matt, Ray, and others deserve a lot of credit for what they are trying to accomplish. Rather than grumble and argue, they've taken what they feel is a reliable and reasonably affordable step forward...
Your points are all well made and I don't disagree.
I understand the argument for "reduced maintenance" but I also enjoy preparing a car, maintaining it, and trying to optimize its systems. If I didn't, I would have a Spec Miata.
I never understood the complaint about adjusting drum brakes. If that is too difficult for you, perhaps race prep isn't for you. Having said that, I'm all for disc brakes being legal and I am...
None of the ideas listed here will work properly. Send me the shocks and I will see that they are properly disposed of. :D

No one racing in the Challenge Cup is having fun. How could we when the lead group is two seconds slower per lap than they would be on slicks?
We THINK we are because we are a bunch of dummies...
Wish I would have said that.
.....and the conversation deteriorates to name-calling.
I got it.
Blah blah blah.....the Falkens suit me and a lot of other participants perfectly. Hopefully if SCCA goes in another direction, the Championship Cup Series here in the Northeast will...
Those of us who follow motorcycle racing and the Daytona 200 have watched this scenario play out for decades. Probably the only thing that you can say for sure is that the winner comes from the lead...
Four of us.
I don't see the point of slamming Brian's post because you don't think things have changed enough since the last time a poll was created. Isn't part of the idea of a poll to determine if views have...
Emergency push rod tubes are readily available that allow you to replace the tube and seals without having to pull the head. Call Dietmar at Quixote Racing (http://www.quixoteracing.com/).
Chris, are you running just the series or are you going to use your Falkens at regionals/Majors also?
I don't think the GCR says anything about the material of lines for the fire system. I have always seen tubing used but was wondering if braided stainless PTFE lines are acceptable. Teflon's...
Definitely send them to Dietmar.
And have him dye-check your spindles.....really CHEAP insurance that could prevent what seems to be a fairly common failure.
Barry...I wasn't sure what you meant by that in your first post. Now I understand.
Funny because I was trying to figure out how I could use the plate to remove the dowel. If it was welded to the...
Thanks for the responses. My car has the setscrew in the front side of the welded-on block. Removed the screw and the dowel comes out with little effort. Not sure how I missed that but it was...
When removing the rockers in the steering, I've removed the two bolts and the plate that sits on top of the rocker but how do you get the rod out that the two roller bearing ride on?
I would...
There was a pretty good thread about gear oil on the other board a couple of years ago that I refer back to when I use gear oil at the track, throw out the last bottle, and can't remember which...
Any word from Dean about tires?
This is exactly the kind of forlorn neglected stuff that is drawn like a magnet to my garage. I should just buy it and get it over with.
Will do. Thanks for the heads up.
Thanks, Ray.
Sorry if my questions are redundant but I have been willing to stay on the sidelines and let others with more experience and knowledge debate the pros/cons of radials, and just wait...
Thanks Ray, Greg, and everyone else who has helped get the series going and keeping it going.
Since you have listed the wheel part number, does that mean it has been decided that this will be...
I had a blast all weekend helping out where I could and watching the close racing at other times.....but, I was definitely kicking myself for not bring the car. I would have been at the back but I...
Right on, Mark! I'll bring Boca burgers and Tofu dogs for any non-meat eaters and whatever else Cindy says I can get. Condiments? Chips? Plates? Plastic-ware? Napkins? Just let me know.
...
I agree with what you wrote Bill, and what others have added as well. I guess this is just part of getting older....times have changed and people have changed. Although I get that, it sure was fun...
It does....and I would help him if he would just get his **** together and get/keep a job.
Same thing. While I agree that San Francisco is a long way, this car is in the middle of the country. I drove 600 miles through a blizzard to get my Vee. The last racebike I sold was to a guy in...
OK....so where are all the people who say they'd love to get into formula car racing or FV in particular but it is just too expensive? Sure this car has been sitting and will need a thorough going...
Who needs pills to get a boner?
Divorced, remarried, sold the business......I'm guessing he's living in Florida!
I believe that this car was bought from Fred Opert and campaigned by Russ Freed. It sounds like you have been in contact with Russ but if you need any help getting information, Russ and I are good...
Thanks for the heads-up.....not sure how I missed that thread originally but I feel a lot more informed after reading it.
Discussion? Opinions?
I have heard the "Pro" side of this discussion. Anyone care to argue the "Con" side?
Matt
Thanks, Mark. It has been a real year of learning, that's for sure. I REALLY appreciate everyone's help.
I would like to have backed-up my Saturday morning time yesterday.....actually, I really...
Big Boy???
:thumbsup::thumbsup:
I'm glad you have one but I'm afraid of what it will cost me. :D
Thanks, Mark. Looking forward to seeing you.
Matt
Good plan for the long run but I don't think I'll get to a shop before I leave this afternoon.
I could really use an o-ring seal that goes between the cylinder and reservoir of a Tilton brake/clutch cylinder if anyone has one for the Autumn Challenge race this weekend. Thanks.
Maybe one of these days I'll find the skill/speed to run with you guys. Regardless, it is a great bunch and I always look forward to seeing you even if it is in my mirrors pointing you by. Fun...
