You're actually seeing .636" - .614" = .022" (Still too considerable to hammer on).

I have one of these. My original from 1986. Still reads spot-on.
When I started this thread, I was searching for a friend who was coming back to FV.
However, he decided to go with a new digital...
"Hi. My name's Glenn...and I'm a vee racer." (Everybody reply..."Hi Glenn"...)
I agree that track days with your street car(s) is good way to feel the experience before making the financial plunge....
cjsmith, I couldn't have put it better - in regards to the basics.
As an instructor, I would also push learning to drive before going fast. Impatience is your #1 nemesis in the beginning.
For a...
In my stupid years I just wore my street undies beneath my drivers suit.
Now it's nomex under my 3-layers of nomex.
Extra layers can also slow down or stave off race gas soaking through to your...
Just curious to know what type of vee it is?

Body-wise, it is a Predator with the side pods removed and the fiberglass extended straight down to the frame.
Chassis-wise, it is a Predator to the main roll hoop with a Caracal-C-or-D style rear...
Please be aware that there were THREE Silver Bullet bodies.
Citation/XTC, Caracal-C, Caracal-D...each was made to fit it's respective chassis.

Please PM me.

ENGINE MOUNT??? That looks like an adjustable wrench!!! ;):D LOL
Just a thought...
1.) Set up the seat, belts & pedals for the tallest driver.
2.) Make custom seat backs for each of the other drivers that fits their position for the steering wheel & sub-belt...
DannyPip,
LOL...sorry...I mentally lost those facts as I went deep into all the other posts.
Glenn
DannyPip,
A Lybarger box will be stamped "LRE <build/rebuild dates>" above the ring gear side plate on the diff AND stamped "SHORT" or "LONG" with the 3rd gear ratio above the starter mount.
Glenn
Bear in mind this is just my opinion, based on my own experience.
Three reasons to NOT move masters to the front:
1.) Damn near impossible to have have masters below the pitman arm (steering gear...
Yes, the RunOffs are basically 3-4 race weekends wrapped up into 7 days.
Kudos to everyone that qualified and then made it to race time.
Its a helluvan endeavor.
Glenn
ooooooo...that's the one...BUT...with the top cut off like that, I bet it's not tall enough.
We need the two pin holes that are furthest apart - 15.5" - to properly hit a Vee rim.
But thanks for...
What is the cl-cl distance between those bolts (that touch the rim)?
We need 15.5" to properly hit the rim of a Vee wheel.
Glenn
Thanks, Dietmar. I'd be very interested if he still has one or two...OR to see if they could be made in small quantities AFFORDABLY.

LMAO  :bomb: :debris:
Nope. Sorry. Turns are turns. A smaller steering wheel just means a little less leverage & a little more forearm.
If you want more turn for less input, extend the pitman arm length or shorten the...
I was also thinking intake manifold not perfectly seated over #1 & #2.

Just for clarification, I'm curious...what's "Probably not legal"?

As I recall, Jim originally called the company "JW's VWs" but, almost immediately, caught grief from Volkswagen (via a nearby dealer, I believe).

I've searched back through the threads - so forgive if I missed it - but is Roxanne's still in business ? I see their website is still up.

Would that be Mark Richardson?

P.S. What's up, Scott. Long time. Getting back in the seat soon?
If you're not running an adjustable beam, you'll have to pre-twist the spring pack.

Best option is to cut a 60 degree angle on the bottom side of the head (using a lathe) so the head drops into the countersink in the spindle.

An SCCA logbook, I assume ?
List the names of the owners from the back page. That'll help alot.
There was a Tuttle-copy (called the 'Aerie') that raced Midwest Council in the early-to-mid 80's....
On a side note... and not to get too preachy... but in a vee, you should be starting to accelerate right before or as you begin turning.
Accelerating from the apex means you're coasting through half...

I can't speak for every club, but, if you're going to run a Vee with any club that uses Monoposto rules, remote coolers aren't legal.
