Looks like it still has the original roll hoop. That should have SCCA registration number. Should at least give you a place and approximate date.

Keys to driver history - I'm guessing it didn't come with a 1970s log book that tells everything - are the SCCA region stamp on the roll hoop and the chassis plate - assuming it's still got one.

That looks to me like an authentic tag from 1978-79. The chassis plates in that era were black bakelite, located on the right lower part of the dash. If you want I can send you a picture of...
I have some results for the Ron Chinquy car.
The roll hoop stamp of 19-619 suggests it did not immediately appear in 1972. There were about 260 cars at Riverside 13 Feb 1972 that would have got...
The first owner's name in the log book is, I think, Ron Chiniquy, who like many SoCal drivers of the day worked in the film business - in this case set design and scenery.
I might be able to help you with some results from 1970s for this car. I'm pretty sure it crops up in my database of Cal Club FB/FC races in that decade, certainly in 1972. That would be the first...
Hi Chris
Yes. The Cal Club stamp number on the car is from early 1977, probably March, at the Riverside Regional.
If I can re-establish contact with the Cal Club archivist we can certainly find...
If it's any help I have The Wheel complete from 1975 thru 89 and have been transcribing FF results into a database which eventually might get published on the website oldracingcars.com
If you could...
Thanks to all the people who've contacted me with Carl's details.
Much appreciated, you guys have made this part of the journey nice and easy.
Chris
PS: If ANYONE has pictures of the...
I'm trying to get in touch with former FB/Atlantic racer Carl Liebich, who raced in the pro series from the early 70s with a Chevron B18 up to the mid 80s with a Ralt RT4.
I have a specific query...
Guys
You are lucky. I have the Wheel, complete bar a few issues, from 1973 thru 1989.
Eventually oldracingcars.com - who I work with - is going to publish full results for SCCA single seaters,...

It's later than I'd expect, given that a Merlyn Mk11 isn't really worth very much in 1978, so why import one from UK when you could get one in California already?
However, I've sent an...
Dave, from what I know of SFR numbering, that's a 1972 stamp or at latest early 1973 (1972 first year of SCCA records, they got to at least 279 with their own system in 1971)
Matt
Can help you a bit here. Have a chassis observation of 237 in a programme from an English race in August 1969, driven by one John Higgins at Brands Hatch. What roll hoop stamp does 237 have?...
Dave
C Rood is very probably Courtney Rood who went on to be a very useful racer in FB with a Brabham BT29 in San Francisco region. Does the car have a roll hoop stamp? That might help identify...
John
Only just seen this. Did you buy the car?
One of the first things to look for would be any stamp on the roll hoop
I have lots of chassis histories for Merlyn FFs in the UK but can't help...
SCCA introduced stamping on roll hoops and log books in 1972.
Glen was a fairly active region, and even if many of the cars that took part in their races got stamped somewhere else, earlier in the...

Howard Kelly's car was ex Craig Hill
Has the car got a chassis plate, or an Arch Motors tub number?
Chris
Do you own this car now?
BTW shouldn't it be a 77B, didn't think Sposato had a 76B
Chris
Rusty
Has your car got the gearbox in it?
If so, give me the serial and I might be able to help
Chris
Looking for a contact for James/Jim Oppermann, who used to race a March 79B in Atlantic, and then an ex Andretti Ralt RT4
Have some questions about the 79B which is now in UK
Any help much...
Rusty
There are two likely candidates for this car in chassis RT5-734 and RT5-735, both black gel coat and delivered to Ralt American in January 88.
Can you give me a tub stamping, fuel cell...
