Thanks, Bob.
Ed, I have the plans and they are attached below. I believe the original designer and owner of these passed away. When these were passed to me the instruction was that if you download them that you...
I don't know how tall you are, but when you say "seeing over the wheel" just keep in mind that you do not need to be able to see the front for the car. As long as you can see th tops of the tires...
Danny, it might also be helpful to know that John Piscatelli (spelling?) ran a long box with us in the northeast and was the guy to beat. I think anything you you use to connect the engine to the...
Glad to hear you got a car. Hope to see you on track in the Northeast soon.

My first thought would be leaks (making one side lean) and/or significant dents in your intake manifold.
If all else fails, drill a hole in it and put a screw in and pull it/tap it out that way. Dust caps aren't that expensive if you need to wreck it to remove it.
There are many great racing books out there, like the older series by Carroll Smith, but the best thing you can do is go to the track and lend a hand. People are always willing to have extra crew and...
The Lazers have a tilted engine. It's about 10 degrees. The reason is to lower the center of gravity.
In Connecticut I go to the Robertson airport in Plainville. Meridan-Markham no longer allows container fills.
Since there are a few Lazer owners, and I believe nearly all of them could use a new bladder, I wonder if (when the time comes) we can try and get a group discount and order all the same time. No...
Thanks, that helps.
I really just want to swap like with like. I use tue bosch blue coil with the internal resistor. I have no idea what distributor I use, which seems to be how you decide which ignitor to use.
I recently replaced a Pertronix ignition with a borrowed one at the track. I ordered a replacement and it look very different. Does anyone have the correct part number for our cars? The one I ordered...
My engine builder told me simple at the pump premium would be fine if not preferred. Our low compression engines don't need much octane. The ethanol is the biggest issue, so you may have found a...
Ed, not for nothing, but I only count two wheels which would make that a motorcycle.
Agreed. These systems looks really good for vee.
So the thermocouple is the yellow (k-type/2 wire) sensor. Basically the fluid temp generates a voltage depending on the temp and the logger reads that voltage. Looks like this:...
Over 250-260 is considered bad, so there's no need to go to 300. And you can choose either a thermocouple or a thermosresistor if you have a preference. I find the set up works very well.
Same here. It works just fine.
I believe there's one for sale here in New England and listed in the classifieds.
Have you checked near the starter? Sometimes they are stamped with the ratio.
Had I not just bought a Mychron5, I would get the Alfano and give it a go. I mostly use TrackAttack for data analysis so either would work for me. I like the idea of getting oil pressure too if it...
It was a fantastic race. Heartbreaking moments too, but fantastic. Well done, everyone.
I just bought this on the recommendation of another vee driver:...
Just thinking outloud here, aren't all the major forces on the opposite side of this area? Intake stroke would have a little, but that's about it.
GCR: C (vee) 5.C.6: Connecticut rods with bolts and small end bushing minimum weight = 425.0 grams ...
GCR: C (vee) 5.D.5: Where minumum weights are specified, any lightening is permissible...
Here are the plans. The idea was that you should donate to the SCCA Steet Survival program as a thank you.

Nice job. Gary! Thanks for making your work on this public.
This topic keeps going in circles. That said, optional disc brakes do reduce costs. As drums get more and more expensive, drivers now have a choice to invest in disc brakes. Even if they are the...
This looks great.
I believe you want /2. Each cylinder fires once per two revolutions. So the coil sparks 4 times every two revolutions, or 2 times for every 1 revolution. So /2 to get the right rpm number. ;)
I run a Mychron5 2T and I can tell you it certainly outputs G loads. I am pretty certain it has an accelerometer. Here is a screen shot of some data. All the buttons/sensors listed in on the left are...
Who knows, but shipping would kill it as a bargain. Did you see this car?

I recently redid my shift linkage with new ujoints and it made a huge difference, but, like you mentioned, the ones I ordered looked exactly like what was on the car until they arrived...and were...
I am glad they clarified it. I can't say I agree with the decision, but I am all for making the rules clearer to all of us...rookies, veterans and everyone in between.
I am still pretty new to the vee game and all the way across the country, but I'll share my opinion.
Is this a reasonable budget? Yes. You may have to be patient but good cars come up in...
I looked at that car. The owner is a nice guy and really wants it gone. I think it has a bone stock engine in it and it's set up for vintage. No log book but there was a hole drilled in the frame at...
:checkered::checkered::checkered: Ok, we've reached the end. Good thread everyone. Time to pack it all up. :checkered::checkered::checkered:
Agreed. It would have been nice for the CRB to clarify the 4 bolt wheel question, which remains unclear by their response to APastore's letter and the current wording of the GCR.
Gary, If the trimming of the rotor/hub work, what type of labor/cost is involved? It's looking great so far.
I have contacted him for Lazer parts and he's been helpful in that regard. Not sure what else he has been doing with regard to Vee
This thread is very timely for me. I have a set of bus damper I bought from Quixote and finally got around to trying to install them only to find the busings were too small. I drilled them out, but...
There are people running the cheap EMPI setup here in the Northeast that still allow the 5 wide wheels with no track change. They are heavy, but the poeple who have them seem happy with them.
I am trying to learn about shocks and I am finding most of the info out there to be either waaaay to simplistic, or already above my level. I understand what compression and rebound are, it's the...
I am running 16ga.
My plug wires are thick, but I was able to press on the clip with a but of force.
Not the nicest way to welcome someone new with a question.
Chance, there are some chassis that fit tall people. As Dan said, Larry bacon was really tall. I think womer and predators are known to...
My RPM works great, as long as you are above 3k rpm. It jumps around a lot at idle. ...
It's inductive. Which needs the filter?
I emailed you a couple thoughts, but since others may have issues with the RPM, make sure the pickup wire is not run in any conduit or tubing. It's odd, but it needs to be loose and routed clear from...
