Ring Gear
Found what appears to be a few worn teeth on the ring gear of my Merlyn FF...
THE QUESTION.... To access the flywheel;
Come from the rear removing the running gear and transmission.... leaving the engine in place...
OR
pull the engine
Also just moved to Mesa AZ in July, anyone nearby....

On my 11A I've done it both ways; leaving the engine in was slightly easier, but not a lot. Still had to disconnect motor mounts, coolant hoses & fuel linkage so that I could tip/raise the engine with a hoist and position the transmission to clear the frame.

Thanks Andrew.... Thats what I was afraid of....

As a heads up, if you change the ring gear, tack weld the new one and have the flywheel balanced. If you are using the Lucas starter, then you must rebalance the flywheel. This will save you grief down the road.

Pull the engine and the gearbox. You rarely have a chance to inspect many of the engine mounting systems and this gives you a good chance to do so. It doesn't take that much longer, is easier in the long run, and makes you more familiar with the car.

Thank you everyone...
