Looking to Purchase FC!

Hi All,
Im currently looking to purchase an FC. Would prefer a Zetec engine but would also be very interested in a pinto car past 95’.
Id be willing to pick up nationwide. So no matter where you are please feel free to reach out and hopefully we can make a deal!

I have a Van Diemen USF2000 Mazda 5 speed sequential that has recently been allowed in SCCA FC.
Car is in Minnesota.

To provide a little clarity for O.P., there is difference in operation and maintenance between the 5 speed sequential and the 4 speed LD200 gear box.

5 speed sequential is that, it shifts sequentially instead of in an H pattern. The gear combinations are set in these cars and can be considered 'spec'. There will be a required oil change interval with this gear box. But, opening it up and maintaining will be done by an approved vendor to retain 'spec' nature of gears.

A Zetec powered car will most probably have the LD200 gear box which is a 4 speed, H pattern gear shift. You can change the gearing combinations in an LD200 and do service and upkeep yourself. Or have a prep shop to help you with it. How often you open this box up is something everyone figures out, and what gearing combinations to run on what tracks is always a topic of discussion.

Both gear boxes are great options. You will know what kind of shifting and driving experience you have had in the past and that may lead you one way or the other. The Mazda powered car mentioned above are wonderful alternatives.

umm..The JL gearbox in the MZR is not sealed as far as SCCA is concerned so you can change you own oil with ease using the conveniently provided plug at the back.

Having run both the Zetec with LD200 and the MZR with the JL, it is so much fun not having to change gears:D. The cars are very close in performance with a slight edge to the Zetec (my opinion)

The JL's sequential shifting would help me with fitment issues !

Well it was a Pinto in a new chassis - which is not that common.

I'd leave it. I have no doubt a Pinto could still be Runoffs winning car in the right hands. Especially that car.
